Who: Shoyo Hinata & Toru Oikawa
What: Moving back in
When: Tuesday Afternoon (Backdated)
Where: Lupine #304
Status: Closed, Ongoing
Warnings: Probably G! TBA! Lotsa fluff!

Hinata could not deny that he was nervous.

Why? That part was still coming to him.

According to the Department of Anomalies, everything was just the same as before he had left all those years ago. The only person who'd lost time was him. Gained time was probably a better way to put it. Shoyo Hinata from the Karasuno parking lot. Except, when he'd left home a second time, they'd grown far beyond a parking lot status. He'd never forgotten Eerie Harbor. The memories he'd made here had been too real to ignore. Deep down, he'd known that whatever this was, was more than just a dream.

Shoyo never had found out the true reason as to why he'd sprouted wings the first time. He'd thought that maybe it was a side-effect to being incompatible with the world. Magic being real was still something he had to digest. In a way it was both a relief and a disappointment. Wings were a responsibility, just like taking care of an extra arm or a leg. The upkeep wasn't something to joke about, and he was thankful for Necrosis for his teachings. It would have been really cool to learn how to fly though.

Going home had been bittersweet. Okay, being the ace just like he'd visioned it had been just as awesome. Being able to play was just as exhilarating as he'd remember. Nothing when compared to playing on the same team as Oikawa, Bokuto, Akaashi, and Noya here in Clio, but just as much fun. He'd seen them back home. At nationals he bumped into Akaashi and Bokuto, cheering on Fukurodani as they played. He got to watch Noya graduate. Meanwhile Oikawa...Hinata hadn't seen since the Shiratorizawa game two years ago.

All this portal jumping around stuff was getting confusing.

Being caught up in the past was one thing. Time to focus on the present.

Hinata knew how to get back to the dorm. He was surprised he'd remembered after all this time. A wave of nostalgia washed over the red-head as he rode in the backseat of the agent escorting him back to the dorms. Looking out the window and seeing the familiar seaside town got him excited. Once he moved back in, he vowed to go out an explore the town a little bit. Most of his time back in the December he'd arrived had been going back and forth from school and the Halfway House, not so much into town. Had he not vanished, he probably would have been bumped to deliveries at Pizzazz Pizza. Think they'll give me my old job back? He chuckled at the thought.

"Hey! I'm back!" Shoyo proclaimed as he entered the room, dropping his things onto the ground as he noticed Oikawa.

He's just like I remember. Two years had passed by like a blink of an eye to Hinata. But to the Grand King, it had only been a few days. Does that make us the same age now? Panic started to settle in. Oikawa had always been two years older than him. Would he look at Hinata different now that he was older? Probably not. That just wasn't like him. But, Shoyo couldn't deny that the situation was a bit peculiar.

Hinata wrapped Oikawa in a hug, squeezing him tightly. Not too tight, as he still wanted to allow him some space to breathe. It was easier now to hold him close, since Shoyo had grown a bit taller. The setter had always towered over him, not even that would change with time. Shoyo held onto him for a bit too long, losing himself in the moment.

"I missed you." He murmured softly, slowly releasing Oikawa from his grip. "Uh, sorry. It's kinda sorta been like a few years for me. It's...good to see you. How are you?"

What is he thinking? Was that too much?

Taking a short breather while Hinata changed gave Oikawa the chance to roll everything that had just happened around in his head. Shoyo was back. He was older. He was a little more handsome and a little less cute. Yet, still ridiculously magnetic. He remembered what he'd left, even after years. Oikawa wasn't quite ready to attempt to unpack that after the slight whirlwind of emotions he'd gone through. He probably hadn't even had a chance to really let the fact that Hinata was gone settle in before there he was, coming into their space like he'd never really left.

When Hinata came back around he smelled different, was dressed different, but he didn't really look different. Yet, despite any number of details, this was different, and Oikawa couldn't help but smile with a calm, "Ready," as he took Hinata's hand. A gesture he didn't bother to stop until they were well out the door and on their way.

The walk was short, but it was still more than enough time for Oikawa to settle back into the familiar feeling of having Hinata at his side, practically buzzing with energy. It was a sensation that almost felt infectious, because the more they walked, the more Oikawa just wanted to play. It was more than he'd wanted to in days. He wasn't even sure he wanted to eat anymore, when the other option was to whisk Hinata off somewhere with a net, to play with him. His sudden yearning to see just how the other had grown was easily outweighing the idea of something as simple as food.

He was still proving to be the kind of spiker that made you want to connect with him. At least, he made Oikawa want to set to him. Even though in the grand scheme of things they'd only been playing together for a short while, Oikawa knew he could trust Hinata on the court. It had been years since Oikawa struggled to sync with a new player, he was adaptive and it was his strong suit. He never went into a game expecting to fully control his team, but to use them and become the best support pillar he could. What kind of player Hinata had become was just making him overthink the possibilities. He itched to get out there, watch him jump, powerful legs shoving him into the air like he might take flight with just sheer will power alone...

But this is a date.

Whether or not Hinata was thinking it as such, Oikawa was going to treat it that way. It could have easily been still in the vein of simple payback for ruining Oikawa's contacts or making a mess, or any number of things really, but really it was better to prepare for the best outcome. He never walked into a game expecting to lose. This wasn't much different.

"Ah," he said when they got at the restaurant and gave Hinata a small tug inside. "So this is where you meant." He shouldn't have been surprised, but there was a little happy sensation at the thought. It was a nice place, and while he wouldn't went anywhere with Hinata, the fact that he thought to bring him here had to say something, as well.

Once they were inside, he told the hostess it was just the two of them and finally let go of Hinata fully to follow her to their table. He let Hinata sit before moving to sit across from him, glancing at the provided menu for a moment before back up. "This place is sort of romantic, don't you think? Are you trying to seduce me?"

"I am." Hinata leaned forward a little, grinning playfully. "Is it working?"

In that moment, a spark of bravery had overcome him. But the middle blocker couldn't deny that inside he was screaming. The last time he'd tried flirting like this was when Yachi asked him if he liked someone, then offered to have Hinata practice on her. He was thankful for her, she gave him a lot of tips on what to and what not to say. Though, she'd asked if they were for Kageyama, in which Hinata replied "No way. Not my type." He'd thought about telling her about Eerie Harbor many times, but even then he wasn't sure if she would even believe. Hinata'd rather she thought he was crazy for liking the Toru Oikawa, the grand king of all people, than her thinking Hinata was delusional and dreamed up a whole reality where they were roommates. And Hinata had grown wings, while Oikawa had helped dry said wings. Yeah. Yachi would tell him he had it bad.

Could she blame him though? Oikawa was pretty, and he knew it. Okay, understatement, he was beautiful. If he didn't play volleyball, he could be a model for sure. The way he carried himself with infectious confidence, attractive. The way his chocolate brown hair fell just perfectly between his eyes, Hinata wanted to run his hands through it. That when he laughed it made Hinata's heart go whoosh and beat a million times faster. Even on the court, his stance that struck fear into the souls of his enemies...Hinata could not deny it was kind of hot. Back when they'd first met it hadn't been. But watching Oikawa during practice, even being set to by him...it was wow, he was...wow.

He could still feel the phantom sensation of holding his hands. Hinata wanted to hold them again. If this was a date, then he hoped he wasn't failing at it.

Two years gives you a lot of time to think about things. When he'd been sucked back home, the setter had taken up a majority of Hinata's thoughts. Even through practice all the way up til he was back at the facility for his quarantine and questioning process. He wanted nothing more than a second chance. And now, he'd finally made it back.

Hinata let out a long, enamored sigh as he stared, the pink that rushed to his cheeks still there from earlier. Realizing too late that he was zoning out, he snapped back to attention after about a minute of the waitress saying "sir"!

"Oh! Sorry I'll have the-" Hinata flipped through the menu and pointed to the first thing he saw. "This! Yeah! The Mezze platter. And uh, a water." He didn't know what he ordered. It'd probably be pretty good, though. Mediterranean food and all that.

The waitress raised an eyebrow before nodding and heading off back to the kitchen, leaving he and Oikawa to themselves once again.

"So, what'd you wanna know?" Hinata prompted once they were alone. He went to go reach for Oikawa's hands again, but retracted them cautiously. Hopefully Oikawa didn't notice that. Hopefully. "It's uh, sort of a big question. I mostly just practiced and went to school. Tell me more about what I missed when I was away."

There was a moment of sheer delight when Hinata admitted to trying to seduce him. As silly and playful as it all was, it was still an incredibly bold statement to make for the once almost timid Hinata Oikawa had known off the court.
"Yeah. It is."

It was, but then again, given everything, it likely would've taken a lot less effort on Hinata's part to get anywhere with Oikawa. For better or worse, he could be blunt, didn't hide his emotions whether that meant screaming during a match or whining or seeming overly happy. If Akaashi had picked up on it, and Oikawa had been fairly certain that most of his attention was definitely not on him and on Bokuto, then anyone probably could have. It had been strange, his former teammates would've likely teased him mercilessly. It'd be like getting attached to Kunimi or Kindaichi. They were practically his children. Hinata's age. Yet, really, two years wasn't a lot in the grand scheme of things. Had they not been in high school, it would have seemed like nothing at all.

Yet, that wasn't even something he had to think about now. Hinata was here, back he guessed, and older. Was he on Oikawa's level now? It certainly circled back to volleyball but he had to wonder about other things. How much had Hinata grown? Had he dated? Hinata certainly seemed cute enough, and with that cheerful attitude, it was easy to imagine people would like him. Even if his classmates couldn't grasp it, he was sure anyone who played would understand. Hinata drew you in whether you wanted him to or not.

He may have been older, but it seemed that was one thing that hadn't changed.

Still, Hinata's company was nice, and Oikawa found himself happily just watching him, admiring the soft flush to his cheeks, the way the tips of his hair curled in all directions. Looking up and away to give his order had been easy enough before he was back to smiling at Hinata, a gesture that only grew as the seconds ticked on and it became apparent he was somewhat lost in thought.

His hand moved to stiffle a laugh and he gave the waitress an apologetic smile before she stepped away to do her thing.

"What were you thinking of?"

The question made him think, really think. What did he want to know? Everything, but that seemed far too broad, and asking certain things seemed like it might be pushing for dinner table talk. He was already having the thought in his mind that he hoped they'd have plenty of time for Hinata to tell him everything he wanted to.

A laugh did come then, and he nearly missed Hinata's hand moving. He let a second or two pass, weighing his options. Brush it off, or do something. He doubted it was some sort of reflex. Maybe he hoped it wasn't. "You were only gone a few days...I mostly practiced and went to school." He glanced down for a moment, considering again before reaching for Hinata's hand, an easy enough gesture that wasn't at all awkward even when the waitress came around to drop off drinks and leave again.

"Some man was looking for you, and some people said that eventually someone would be around to confirm you were completely gone." He looked at their hands, watched as he moved his thumb over the skin on the back of Hinata's hand. "I didn't want to believe you'd left...but now I'm just glad you're back and ok."
