The sun is shining, and there's a light breeze that keeps it from being too hot to be comfortable. There's a largish crowd of Halfway House inhabitants (including Harry Lockhart and NPCs) that made a point of coming out early to set up tables, lawn chairs, blankets, a sound system to play music, and the barbecue grills. There's all kinds of food, from your standard bbq fare to strange dishes that various Strangers made from their home worlds. Everyone is welcome, so come enjoy yourself and get to know your neighbors!

"Don't they?" He excitedly nibbled off of his plate as they piled some food. Then he backed off to let Oliver reach the last plates on the table. "Wanna go sit and eat? Come on, we can go sit on the grass."

Necrosis headed over and plopped onto the ground, more careful towards not dropping any of his food. His wings hung half open so that he could sit on his knees. His right wing half splayed out while the left remained tucked. He didn't seem to acknowledge this. He settled in and started eating happily.

"Ahh this is amazing! I forgot how good food tasted!" He smiled while he nibbled his pieces of fruit and crunched his chips. "How does yours taste?" He looked over at Oliver with his same infectious smile.

Oliver followed Necrosis over to the grass, feeling glad to get just a little distance between him and the rest of the group. He joined Necrosis on the grass, careful not to spill his food, but also angling himself to look at both Necrosis and the picnic.

"It's good, closer to the food back home than I was expecting."

He was glad Necrosis seemed to be having fun. Though he felt a little guilty that he was keeping him from being more social. At the same time, he was glad that Necrosis was still hanging out with him. It was nice to be around someone who didn't expect anything from him.

"So, what do you like about flying?"

"Yeah? Whats the food in your home like?" Necrosis engaged in conversation as he ate. He tried not to just inhale his food. He'd been through the outcome of eating to fast too many times. Always made him sick.

"Best thing about flying?" Necrosis thought for a moment, his mind jumping back to all those centuries spent in chains, "The freedom of it. I love just soaring through the sky. Doing tricks and even just riding thermals! What about you?"

"Oh, food back home tends to be more heavily spiced, but similar in terms of the basic stuff. Lots of starches and nuts for me, mostly. I can only eat things all of my stomachs can handle, or I'll get sick when I transform."

Freedom, huh. He supposed that was a nice thing about going. Nothing holding you down, and being free to go anywhere you like. It was a rush, to be sure.

"I think probably the freedom as well, but more that I don't have to be pinned to any one place, I can just choose to go somewhere else. No one can stop you when you can fly."

He'd had to run enough that the ability to go wherever was important. Being able to escape whenever someone wanted to keep him made life better. Not even his parents could find him when he flew off.

Necrosis thought for a minute, "Huh I never considered that. I grew up with angels who always flew with me so I almost always had company!" Necrosis finished with his food. He still didn't feel full, but he definitely felt like he ate.

"Nuts and starches..." Necrosis seemed to trail off in thought. He pulled his non injured wing closer and absentmindedly preened the feathers, "That must taste good." He gave Oliver a smile, recovering from his brief train of thought.
