Oh, did the fighting on the picture box not happen in life, was it staged.

"I used to do arena fighting. It was for sport."

For sport was not the best way to word that. But he probably won't notice the slip up. For sport was not, as good as doing it as a sport. It was fine.

Oh, fruit. She hadn't had any in, years. Fresh fruit was a rarity, even outside the Arena. She cautiously picked up a slice of watermelon and took a bite, a small smile forming as she did so. It was sweet, sweeter than she expected, and lighter as well.

"This is good!"

She looked at what she assumed were the, kabobs, Catcher was talking about. It was mostly meat, with some spices and vegetables. She should take a couple, but she wasn't sure if she was allowed to. Once she finished her melon, she hesitantly grabbed one, but stopped there.

"What will you eat?"

Arena fighting? Like in Rome? Well, maybe where she's from it's just for show. Could explain her rough exterior a bit more. He thought to himself.

"Melons are hecka groovy!" Catcher smiled, her eating watermelon made him want to try some. He grabbed one of the paper plates and put a few slices of watermelon on it. Ever since he had his "curse", Catcher always had a craving for wheat and grains. He inconspicuously grabbed some of the buns he brought and put them on his plate, plain. Someone had brought rice, he got some of that too. He figured he could treat himself.

"Usually I get some wheats, y'know. Tastes extra good." To look less suspicious, he grabbed one of the meat kabobs. "These are also my jam!"

Good, he did not seem to notice her slip-up. And he seemed confident to grab whatever he wanted, so she grabbed another slice of watermelon. She didn't quite understand his grabbing more bread, but maybe that was because she'd had too much of it plain. Eating something too much tends to make it less liked.

The kebobs were good, spiced more than she had ever had, which made them even better.

"Yes, they are good. Better than the food in my world. What is your, vibe?"

Valkyrie seemed to be really enjoying herself. That made Catcher happy. He noticed she was staring at the amount of grains he'd collected. He knew it was weird, but just continued to eat them like normal. It was...one of the side-effects of turning into a giant moth. Bread just--did more for the ol' belly.

"I'm no chef, but it's groovy lots of people brought stuff from their worlds." Catcher hummed along happily. The food was decadent, best thing he'd eaten in a long time. He paused when Valkyrie mentioned his vibe, "Oh y'know not much from me. Just chillin' around, meetin' lots of peeps. I'm an open book, if ya catch my drift."

That's a lie. So far the only person who knew about his moth form was Lock. And he intended to keep it that way. No more slip-ups!

"What about ya? What's the vibe from where ya come from?"

Valkyrie was glad she hadn't ruined whatever mood they seemed to be making by mentioning having been a fighter. Catcher seemed to be enjoying his, concerningly large amount of grain products.

"I can not cook much either. Only really over a fire pit."

She paused at the question of her world. She didn't want to say much. She didn't want him to think any less of her. After all, a world of constant fighting doesn't make for a good life. And she didn't want anyone to worry.

"Home was, harsh, but not without its good points. The flowers were more colorful than any I've seen since."

"Hey, no sweat. Maybe we can learn together? Maybe they got cookin' classes or somethin' we can attend, ya dig?" He offered up the idea. "Or we can just like--buy a cook book or some." He laughed at his own suggestion, though learning how to cook with a friend would be fun.

He stopped laughing when Valkyrie mentioned her home. His laughter stifled, and he gave her a concerned look.

"Oh...bummer. Sorry to hear that. What sort of flowers were they?" He asked, trying to lighten the mood.

Oh no, she made him concerned. That was the opposite of what she meant to do. She was trying to be softer about her home, but it was too harsh still. She shouldn't have said anything. But it was too late to take it back now.

"They were blue and purple. The petals became more blue the longer they were in the sun. They would unfold like, I do not have a comparison. They were the size of my fist, and smelled like sweet rain."

She didn't mean to wax poetic, but she wound up having a soft smile on her face as she spoke. She had only seen them once, the day she and Spirit had found someplace to rest, finally able to take a break. They lay there in a field full of them for a few hours, before they had to move along.

"I, am sorry, I made it, a less good mood."

He liked listening to Valkyrie talk about her home in a positive light. The way she spoke of the flowers softly was very heartwarming. It was interesting to hear, she seemed to be deep in thought about it. Whatever these flowers were, brought her joy. He hoped he hadn't gotten her too torn up about the whole thing.

"N-no! Don't be sorry. I think it's groovy. They sound...ultimate, I mean--beautiful. I'd love to see em' one day." He added, stifling another wide smile.

She'd gotten more melancholy than she'd meant to, taking about home. Maybe one day she'd see something like it again. But there was no use dwelling on the past now.

"They were, I only saw them once, but they were the most amazing thing, especially at the time. I would love to see them again one day."

She smiled softly. It was a good memory, though, it was far away now.

"What was your home like? Was it much like here?"

“You’ll see em’ again.” Catcher encouraged. He went to go tap her on the shoulder but held off. Worried if she was okay with it. He put his hand back into his pockets. “But, I will declare, those sound really swell.”

He wanted to hear more about her world, and why those flowers were so important to her. Her talking about them so fondly was a nice change of pace for her, she’d seen so gnarly and grumpy when they’d first met. Now, he was glad she was finally warming up a little.

“Nah, my crib—err—world is really similar to this one.” He rubbed the back of his head. “Cept a lot noisier. Lot more buildings n’stuff.”

"Thank you, that is, kind. They are, swell."

She noticed that he seemed happier, almost like she hasn't brought the mood down when she'd initially talked about home. She was glad. She noticed his hand hovering by her shoulder a moment, before he stuck it back in his pocket. She wouldn't have minded, but she could see why someone would be hesitant to suddenly touch her.

"That is nice, at least you can feel at home easier."

Valkyrie seemed a bit more relaxed once the attention of her home was brought down. Catcher raised an eyebrow in curiosity. But he shrugged off her earlier comment.

"I s'ppose it's a bit easier to settle in." He paused, and gave her a polite grin. "Hopin' you start settlin' in soon too. I know this place is a bit gnarly, but the people here mean well."
