RP: Woe Unto Cardassia
Who: Jim and Rachel
What: Godbox malfunctions, interrupted birthday plans, and trigger happy aliens.
Where: Cardassia Prime, in the Cardassian Empire...
Warnings: Cowboy + Rustler + Space Nazis = oh shit...

Retirement, or the like, had suited Jim, for the six months he had managed to wrangle of it for himself and his love. The world was still revolving, the agency was thriving, and Annie even seemed to be in a good mood, visiting occasionally as she did. And Rachel and Jim were having their own fun.

He'd set out today to purchase a few things from the local town, for a surprise not!birthday party for Rachel. After the flood that had damaged the local towns, a new town, larger and a little more sophisticated, was rising. Mos Eisley, they called it, and it was a small thing, but still larger than any town the area had ever seen the likes of. WHAT had settled several odd people and aliens in the area, so the town seemed to have a feel of oddness to it, even for Jim's likes. Halfway through the trip, he had the odd urge to call Rachel, and trusting those instincts, raised his squawk box to do so.

And promptly found himself elsewhere. A very alien elsewhere. "Oh Shit..." Clio reared and settled, and went on alert from the tone of his voice, eyes and ears swiveling every which way as they both looked out over a very alien landscape. A strange sky greeted his eyes as he raised them. This was definitely not a good day to go shopping after all.

"Sounds like an interesting plan. We should discuss it once we're back home, more rested." He winked at her as he rode with her, looking ahead fort anything at all that could act as cover. "This is not the nicest of worlds." Ahead, a rocky river interrupted their run, several lengths wide and with hissing and rumbling ground opposite it.

Even as they rode, he saw some of the ground literally explode upward.

"Holy hells..."

Rachel yanked on Jericho's reins with a cry. "I thought sand-worms were found, I don't know, in the sand!" The huge body broke through the ground, several stories tall and with plating, more centipede than worm. The uh rock-centipede gave a loud shrill cry and lunged it's mandibles towards the whole party, shiny carpet things included.

No two ways about it. She steered her horse forward towards the base of the rock centipede and the rocky river, determined to use the distraction to give the slip.

Jim kneed Clip gently, and they charged the beastie. Distraction was needed. "Let's run!"

He slewed aside with Rachel and Jericho, and tossed the last of his grenades backward, hoping it slowed pursuit and caught the eye of the worm, turning it toward those they were running from.

"I need to get some more weapons somewhere..." He had one pistol left with some ammunition nut not much, two knives, and some bolos. He felt practically naked.

The hungry giant did turn and began to loom down towards the shiny things, hungry for a snack.

"You and me both!" Rachel growled in frustration, working on keeping her horse upright on the shaky and loose terrain. "Had I know this was in the plan, I'd packed the saddle bags better." She rummaged and tossed a bag of bullets to Jim after grabbing some for her wasted shots.

He snickered and caught the bullets, sliding them home as they rode. They slowly got some distance on both pursuers and managed to slide into some of the foothills. A little ways in, Jim called a halt.

"So, another planet, locals are hostile, and animals are hostile. And we have no idea why we're here. Oh happy day."

He chuckled and fished out a water bottle. "Too much fun, already."

"We can't just keep running around this barren place, hoping to be rescued." Rachel chewed on her lip and eyed the direction of the city and hunters. "It may not be able to transport us, but..." She looked down at the squawk box.

"Box. Box, tell us where we are. Something useful to our predicament." There series of whirrs and beeps as the strange device weighed out if it'd obey her or not.

He nodded, and settled back, eying her.

The box wiggled and spoke. "You are on Cardassia Prime. You are four point two clicks from the central city, where the peace accords are currently being attended by the only other humans on the planet."

Jim chuckled. "Well, then, I think we need to go find some countrymen."

"Cardassia Prime? Well, at least it's not the Land Under the Hills again." Peace accords, sounded like Montana.

She clicked Jericho forward, towards the squawkbox's directions. "Let's hope they're not Gray Jackets. That's all we'd need." She grinned and galloped away.

He chuckled, peered around, and sighed, following with Clio. "This means diplomats. I hate when we have to deal with them." He grumbled as he followed.

The run was good, despite the alien terrain and the hills, it was fun to ride with her. "Feels good to be back in the saddle, for sure. Especially with you by my side."

Overhead, moons moved slowly in the strange sunlight.

"Oh you polish up just fine and talk pretty to them without much fuss." She smirked and teased him a little. "You can almost not see the cowboy for the stuffy tuxedo."

She grinned at his words, he was right. For all fun and peacefulness of the last few months, this was like putting on old, broken-in boots. "See? Just like that. Besides, someone gotta keep an eye on that backside of yours." Yup, old times.

He snerked. "That'll depend on finding a place to polish up at, and something pretty to wear."

He sighed. He hated tuxedos.

"And I'll keep my eyes on yours. It does look good when you're... excited." He winked at her.

Jim sulking was always a quiet amusement to Rachel; he became nearly childish when it came to the dreaded outfit.

She rolled her eyes at him and sighed. "How did you ever get anything accomplished while so intent on chasing tail, lover?" She listened around them, dividing natural silence from the dangerous kind.

He smirked, eyes on the terrain. "I chased it a lot less before i had one right in front of me. And none of it ever was as worth being chased..."

Between the pause and any other words, a low rumbling started below them, from far away. "Oh bless."
