Tess had to cover her mouth with a hand to force back laughter at the awkward way he focused on speaking to Ace, who was very still for a moment as he listened and give a dull little kick of comprehension. "You've got plenty of time to explain your presence," She said softly, grabbing him by the wrist to drag him to the couch to sit, hated being on her feet long anymore and hated herself a little for hating it. "Depends, some days I feel like a million bucks, some like today, I feel like crap." Once he was plopped down she plopped down next to him to lean back into his side, let out a long sigh. "Not much I can do either but cope and sometimes it's just like, fuck it. I only get to do this once."
Ace was still, Tess poked him once to be sure, and he gave a slight twitch of discomfort, at least she knew he was just dozing off into sleep. She liked to always know and he always went right back to sleeping when he got poked. He must have known it was a precaution. Tess was still sure he was going to be born covered in red dots from her fingertips. "isn't this insane? Still in the womb and I'm already constantly worried about him." She shook her head, settling back into the warm comfort of her friend's arms. "It's going to be a nightmare once he's born. He'll probably be crawling before he's even off the breast."
Another sigh. "I dunno, it's getting kinda. . .tense. We've still got time to go but the midwife we've hired comes weekly since I had problems before, so we always kind of hold our breath and that's stupid because even now Logan can heart his heart, he'd know if something was wrong. But then we're finishing up the nurseries and I've gotta start training Copper to not be by the high chair and the carseat or in his room, we're gonna probably have to gate the place off when we give him tummy-time so Copper doesn't. . .I don't know, suddenly suffocate him by accident if he turn our heards for a second. You can't be too careful and I just don't have the heart to give her up, she;s a good kitty, she's declawed. She liked kids. I just worry about her getting jealous. And poor Little Dick, we're working on getting him hyped up to play big brother and he's finally okay with that idea, seeing Ace as a brother even though we're not his parents. . .it's been crazy, today is the first quiet day I've had all week, I've been sending Logan to Dick's so he doesn't feel too much pressure or anything, last thing I need is full fledged Logan flipout right now. I promised to try and make this a positive thing for him."
