Having spent most of the previous night hopped up on chocolate frogs and the sort of hilarity that can only be appreciated by 14 year old boys, Alexander Beamish and Charlie Birch (Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw 4th years respectively) developed a plan. The most hilarious plan, involving a tremendous number of dungbombs that Charlie had packed in his trunk. His twenty year old brother had found them in his room when he was packing to move out, so Charlie had merely inherited them. While he didn’t know how old the dungbombs were, it didn’t matter, did it? Surely they didn’t expire. The dungbombs were set to explode in the middle of the day. Optimal getting out of class time. But when they didn’t work, Alexander and Charlie merely shrugged. It sucked, of course, for they both hadn’t finished essays due to the assumption that they wouldn’t be in class. But they didn’t bother to collect the dungbombs. Why would they? They obviously didn’t work. The dungbombs went off at promptly half three in the morning, and Professor Umbridge was one of the first informed. Needless to say, she was livid. Dressed in her frilly pink dressing robe, she promptly assembled the school, marching each and every student into the Great Hall before demanding, very sweetly, for the parties responsible to please confess so that the rest of the students could get back to bed. They didn’t. With a flick of her wand, the tables and benches disappeared and the students were required to stand until the parties responsible confessed. It wouldn’t be until nearly half five before Alexander finally cracked and, well, the smile Umbridge gave was enough to scare Charlie shitless. He didn’t confess. Finally, at seven in the morning, Dumbledore intervened and sent everyone back to their dorms, with the exception of Alexander, who got the joy of heading off with Umbridge. |
