I know you are, Fred said before she moved a little closer to John. She then looked over at Alex, Kathryn and Peyton as the little girl spoke. Fred found herself softly laughing and shaking her head. She couldn't help but to wonder what would happen if Peyton and their Alex ended up in the same room together. But before she could say anything, Kathryn was asking her question and Lorne came in.
"That's good news," Fred said before she looked at her sister for a brief moment before looking at Lorne again. "What's going to happen now?"
Lorne looked at all of them and rubbed the bottom of his face. There was obviously something going on and Fred furrowed her brow just as General O'Neill walked into the room. He clapped Lorne's shoulder and dismissed him before looking at the others.
"Sheppard, Sheppard...people I don't know," Jack said before he sat down at the head of the table.
"What's going on, General O'Neill?" Fred asked.
"We have a slight problem. It seems Mister and Mrs. Tully are wanted in Mississippi for robbing a bank," Jack said as he raised his eyebrows and looked over at Alex and Kathryn.
Fred looked at them too. They were looking at each other and when Kathryn looked at her, she had tears in her eyes. At that moment, Fred knew she would do anything in her power to protect her sister, even if they had just met.
"I knew it wouldn't work, Alex," Kathryn said in a trembling voice. "We won't ever be able to get away from what we've done."
"Can't you get the charges dropped, General?" Fred suddenly asked, much to Kathryn's surprise.
"I could but it might not stop others from wanting to arrest them. According to this, it wasn't there first or last bank robbery," he said.
"Then we'll take them back to Atlantis with us," Fred said. There was no way she was going to let her sister and brother-in-law go to prison.
"We can't take everyone to Atlantis, Doctor Sheppard," Jack said.
"You're allowing Paul to live there. He almost killed your daughter!" Fred pointed out before she looked Jack in the eye.
The two seemed to stare at each other for a long moment before Jack suddenly stood up. "I'll call in a favor with the President and have him pardon the Tullys for their crimes. Then I'll make contact with Atlantis and speak to Sam," he said before he turned and walked out.
Kathryn stared at Fred for a moment. "Thank you," she finally said. "But I don't think we can go." She then looked at Alex. "What about your mom and sister?"
