The next few days went by quickly. Rodney had done quite a bit of work on his macro while they had been gone, and Sam told them that the next phase of the project was on hold while construction started on Midway. Once they had the bare bones of the station in place, they could work on the gate links then look at getting Fred and Cait's work integrated into the system.
Carson and Cait got back to work on the retro-virus while everyone worked on the upcoming mission to M-1883 to deliver the new generator to them. The people there had been one of the friendlier races they had met in the Pegasus Galaxy, so they had agreed to help them protect themselves from the wraith. Fred and Rodney would be setting up the generator that would run a shield while the rest of the group helped with the current harvest.
"John?" Carson said, hurrying to catch up with him as he walked down the corridor.
"Hey, Carson. How're things going?" John asked.
"Good. I wanted to request that Cait and I join you on your mission to M-1883 tomorrow," he said.
"Oh?"
Carson nodded. "Teyla's people have been more than helpful in giving us blood and DNA samples so we can look at how the wraith DNA some of them have interacts with human DNA, but it's a really small sample, and because it's from one group of people, I don't have a basis for comparison to see if they're the norm. The people on M-1883 have suffered the same sort of cullings as the Athosians, so I was hoping that they would agree to us taking blood and DNA samples from them as well to see if they also have the DNA integration. It'll help us in developing the retro-virus."
"Given their interest in wanting the cullings stopped for good, I would imagine they'll be willing," John told him.
"Great. Thanks, John," Carson said before heading off.
John continued on to the lab where Rodney, Zelenka and Fred were working. "Hey. How's everything coming on the generator?"
