Sitting down next to Cait, Carson reached over the table and took her hand, giving it a squeeze while he smiled at the look on his mum's face. Thank you, he told his wife. It meant so much to him that she would agree to spend some of their time with her.
As he poured himself some orange juice, he chuckled softly as Cait cajoled Kieran into holding Charlie again. 3...2...1... He wasn't wasn't surprised that his brother didn't want to change her, but before Carson could offer to, Cait stood with their daughter and took her into the other room instead.
"Carson, dear, could you get the margarine out of the fridge," his mum asked. As he did, she smiled at him. "Your wife is absolutely lovely."
He returned her smile. "Yes, she is," he told her. "I don't know what I'd do without her sometimes."
When Cait returned, they ate their breakfast, and after Kieran excused himself to head to work, Carson helped his mum with the dishes since she didn't have a dishwasher. Once they were done, they got all their belongings together and headed out in Helen's car. Thankfully, she was a much calmer driver than Kieran.
"Would you like to go shopping first or to the park?" she asked.
