A pair of owls From: Minerva McGonagall To: Minister of Magic Percival Weasley
Minister Weasley,
While I am certain that you have every reason to doubt my identity, I assure you that I am indeed Minerva McGonagall, former Headmistress of Hogwarts, and I have enclosed an affadavit from the secretary of the ICW, who will confirm that I have been sequestered for the last month at the headquarters of the ICW in Brussels. The latest events in Britain were brought to my attention over the weekend, and I feel it is high time that I returned to England. On my return I shall, of course, be at your disposal.
Sincerely, Minerva McGonagall
[Warded for Percy's eyes only.] PS. Congratulations, Percival. I confess that it has done me good to learn of your achievements. One hundred point for Gryffindor, I'd say; perhaps more. My condolences, as well, on the deaths of Arthur and Ron.
[Affadavit attached, sealed with the official seal of the secretary of the ICW.]

From: Minerva McGonagall To: Minster of Public Safety Charles Weasley
[Warded for Charlie's eyes only.]
Charles,
Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated, as the Muggle writer once said. The details of where I have spent the last eighteen months are somewhat embarrassing and more than a little vexing, and the last month has been spent under the tender care of the ICW in Brussels. (To their credit, their healers have been magnificent, but the bureaucrats somewhat less so.) I have lately been brought "up to speed" (as they say) on the latest news from the UK, though of course there are more than a few lacunae that I hope you'll be able to fill.
I am leaving Brussels in the morning and hope to be in England tomorrow; I plan to stay in Godric's Hollow for a little while, as I gather Hogsmeade is quite out of the question—and to be honest I never liked London much at all. I have written to Percival as well, as it seemed the proper thing to do. I will write to Malfoy once I'm back as I think I need British soil under my feet again to pull that off.
I look forward to seeing you again, Charles. My regards to your family, and my condolences on the deaths of Arthur and Ron.
