Louis & Regulus What → Waking the evening of forgotten memories plot
when → February 20th
where → Louis's Apartment
warnings → Nah

he couldn’t remember anything save one thing
Louis stirred, but didn’t open his eyes, sleep was still heavy in him. Shifting he felt something or someone against him. His eyes popped open and he was hit with a world of confusion. He couldn’t remember his name. He couldn’t remember where he was. He couldn’t recall anything. Squeezing his eyes shut he shook his head. Surely he was still asleep. Perhaps dreaming. He opened his eyes once more and looked around. Nothing was familiar and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t remember anything save one thing, he was a vampire.

He slowly sat up and in that moment he heard a loud steady heartbeat and knew there was someone beside him. They were alive. Why were they there? Who were they? It hit him as he became aware of the growing hunger inside him. He reached to turn the light on and looked around again before his gaze returned to the young man beside him. This was all so strange without memories. He gave the man a gentle push. “Uh, excuse me…wake up.” Louis needed some answers. Maybe this man…. Suddenly he was out of the bed faster than any human could imagine. “Who are you?” He demanded. “What have you done to me?”
Regulus let out a soft groan as someone gave him a gentle push. He was comfortable, warm. He really had no desire to wake up. He wanted to pull the blanket over his head and just sink back deeper into sleep but the sudden movement beside him as someone fled the bed managed to jolt him awake. Regulus sat up and looked around, eyes wide as he realized he didn’t recognize this room. He had no idea where he was… or who he was.

His attention, finally, turned to the other person in the room, observing the unknown man with wide confused eyes before he stumbled out on the opposite side of the bed, putting distance between them. “Who am I?” He asked incredulously. “Who are you? How do I know you haven’t done something to me?” Either of them could be responsible for this. Regulus didn’t think it was him but he didn’t even know who he was. How could he be so sure? His eyes moved from the stranger to the perfectly normal looking room. There was no sign of a fight or any kind of struggle. It looked a lot like the two of them had just settled down for the night. “Is this… is this your place or mine?”
Louis watched the man practically jump and stumble out of the bed to the opposite side of the room. His nostrils flared at being asked such questions. He wouldn’t hurt anyone. At least he didn’t think he would. Besides, the young man looked unharmed from what he could tell. He listened to the rapidly beating heart and racing pulse of the man. It was impossible to get away from his scent or the scent of blood.

“I’ve done nothing to you. I don’t even know who you are.” Or why you’re here though he had a suspicion he may actually know why the other was there. “I don’t even know my name. I…I can’t remember anything.” No, he wasn’t bringing the vampire thing up. Yet. “I’ve no idea if this is your place or mine. I don’t know anything.” It was such an odd feeling. The confusion was slightly overwhelming. “I won’t hurt you.” Not that he expected the other to believe him. “You have my word on that.” Despite the fact that his scent, his blood was getting to the vampire. He needed to feed.

“I…I think I know something about you.” The better term may have been he knew what he was. Louis could imagine no other reason he would be slumbering with a human. He couldn’t explain the memory loss though.
The stranger was telling the truth, of course. Regulus wasn’t hurt or even slightly injured. Aside from the memory loss he had been sleeping rather peacefully. They had both been sleeping peacefully. In the same bed. Unless someone had placed them there (which seemed unlikely) it seemed like the two of them had made that choice prior to waking up. If the man really was someone Regulus would willingly sleep next to he was pretty sure he wasn’t going to be harmed or injured. He just sort of wished he remembered. This person could’ve been someone important to him. A friend… or something more.

Regulus let out a breath and willed himself to calm down, to think rationally. “And I’ve done nothing to you.” He murmured, shoulders dropping as he let his guard down. He was still scared. Maybe the man standing on the other side of the bed was safe but neither of them knew who they were. They couldn’t even figure out whose apartment this was. “I don’t remember anything either.” He admitted before moving to sit upon the bed. Maybe it would start coming back to them if they just calmed down. Neither of them were a threat.

Regulus looked up as the other man spoke again. “You know something about me?” He asked, surprised that the stranger knew anything about him. While he wasn’t sure how that was possible he was willing to take whatever he could get. “Well. What is it? What do you know?”
Louis knew the stranger wouldn't harm him. He was far faster and stronger than humans. Which was why there could only be one reason he would allow a human to sleep with him. There had to be a great deal of trust between them. Trust that he wasn't sure he could have with someone for many reasons. Therefore he believed he knew what the other was. It was the only thing that made any sense to him.

He watched the other move to sit on the bed. "I know you haven't. I know you wouldn't." Still, Louis put a little more distance between them before he spoke again. As much as he could without leaving the room. He had no idea how the stranger would react to learning he was a vampire let alone what Louis believed him to be. He frowned. Impatient. The younger human was impatient. "I know as much as you do, which is nothing. I can't remember anything." He paused. "However, I do know I'm a vampire." He paused again. "And I think you are or may be my blood donor. That's a human who lets a vampire feed from them of their own free will." It was the only way Louis would ever take on a blood donor.
It was odd that the stranger would claim he knew Regulus hadn’t harmed him and wouldn’t harm him yet still move to put as much distance between them as possible. Regulus decided not to dwell on it. Maybe it was a little odd but neither of them knew who they were or what was going on. It was only natural to think of one’s safety. Even if they knew each other before any of this happened, even if they trusted one another, that was before their memories disappeared. They were both entirely new people now. There was no guarantee of safety even if there had been before.

Regulus blinked at the revelations, not sure what to make of it. He didn’t jump up or panic, however. He was scared enough of the unknown to be impatient but he and this man had been in the same room for a while now. If he wanted to hurt Regulus he could’ve easily done so. Vampire or not. The fact that he was a vampire and was probably stronger and faster than Regulus meant he could’ve been easily disposed of had the other decided he was too much of a threat. He still could. Regulus probably should be taking this a little more seriously or, at least, feel some sort of fear but… he didn’t. He was actually feeling pretty rational about it which meant it was probably true. He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. “Well. I’m not in a panic over the vampire or blood donor thing. I still trust you not to hurt me so you might be onto something.”
Truth be told Louis felt a bit of panic as he waited to see how the other would react. Not because he thought he would harm him, but more there was a fear of being rejected and looked at in disgust because of who he was. He had no memory of how he'd become a vampire or even how long he'd been one. If he was in the stranger's shoes and human, and someone revealed to him they were a vampire and thought they were their blood donor, he'd not believe them, be afraid and maybe think the other person was a little crazy.

So it was a big surprise when the young man didn't freak out, didn't yell, didn't tell him he was crazy or even tell him to leave. He seemingly accepted what Louis said. Was it the connection they shared that went beyond the loss of all memories? Perhaps. Still, he was almost unsure of what to say or how to act when he'd been expecting a scene of some sort. "That's good. I promise I won't harm you." How he knew this with certainty he couldn't say, but he felt deep within. And he didn't want to harm the young man. Why would he? He'd done nothing to him. "You being my blood donor is the only thing that makes sense to me as to why we were in the same bed. I don't believe most vampires would share a bed with a human." At least he didn't think so. Not that the thought bothered him, but it may have vampires. "I think that means we must have at least been friends."
Maybe he should’ve yelled or screamed or panicked just a little. A normal person, a sane person, probably would’ve jumped up and tried to run out of the room. Vampires weren’t real. Or, at least, they weren’t supposed to be. Regulus, however, had simply accepted what the other man had said as fact. More than that he, somehow, knew the other was telling the truth. He knew vampires existed though he couldn’t quite remember how. The idea that he knew because he had befriended one and offered to be a blood donor seemed like a logical enough answer.

“You’ve had ample opportunity to harm me before now. If you haven’t hurt me yet I don’t believe you’re going to start now.” Then again the vampire could surprise him. This one could like to play games with his food. As Regulus observed him for a moment he was certain that wasn’t the case. Whoever this vampire was he didn’t seem cruel and something told Regulus he knew exactly what cruel looked like. “Some sort of connection seems right. I don’t remember a lot about myself but I get the feeling I’m not the type to crawl into bed with a stranger.” Not even for an innocent reason. “Do you think whatever happened interrupted your feeding?” He didn’t feel like he’d lost any blood and there was no wound he could feel on his neck or anywhere else. So maybe this arrangement was new. Did that mean the vampire needed to feed?
That much was true. Louis moved to the window so that he could peek outside. When he drew back the curtain it was obvious this was his apartment. A sheet of something black covered the entire window, obviously to keep the sunlight out. "I believe this is my apartment." He pulled the curtain back so that the other could see that the window was covered. He was certain he would find a similar covering on any other windows.

"I don't think I'm the type who would do that either." That's why they had to have some type of friendship or connection to wake in the same bed. His gaze moved to the clock on the bedside nightstand. "I don't think it interrupted it. It's after sunset and this is about the time I feed each night." It's why the hunger was growing inside him. He couldn't quite bring himself to ask the other if he could feed from him. He was a stranger even if they did know each other there was no memory of it and it seemed wrong or felt off. "I could feed from animals. I don't wish to make you uncomfortable or frighten you by asking..." Asking you to let me drink your blood. "I'm sorry. This is a bit awkward. Let me dress and then I will go out." He knew he could drink the blood of animals to get by and even survive, but their blood didn't compare to that of a human.

Louis moved to his closet and picked out something rather quickly then left to find the bathroom and dress.
Regulus looked up and frowned a little. He really couldn’t argue with the coverings on the window. “Well, that’s one mystery solved then.” But it brought up a whole new one. If this was the vampire’s apartment where did he live? A quick glance of the bedroom told him that only one person usually occupied this space and there was a small overnight bag sitting near the bed. He was sure he’d find his things in there. Maybe… maybe he’d luck upon an ID, too, or just something that could tell him who he was and give him an address.

His gaze drifted from the bag back to the vampire as he spoke. So neither of them were the type to hop into beds with strangers. That was good to know. It meant they had to, at least, be friends. There was a level of trust and care between them. That made a lot of sense. Regulus doubted he would just offer his blood to anyone who asked. “So that means…” The other man cut in before Regulus could finish that thought and ask if he needed or intended to feed. Was he really a donor if the vampire refused to ask him for some of his blood? “Oh… if that’s what you prefer I won’t question your decision.” He felt like a pretty lousy donor though. Did everyone have to worry about being rejected by the vampire (possible) friend they had agreed to help out?

When the other moved to quickly grab his clothing and all but fled the room that feeling amplified. If his presence was making the other uncomfortable enough to flee the room and leave the house then, perhaps, it was time for Regulus to get dressed himself and go. Even if he couldn’t find an address or an ID among his belongings, maybe something out there would look familiar enough to jog his memories. As soon as the vampire had left the room, Regulus picked up the overnight bag and went through its contents. He laid out his own change of clothes and began to dig through pockets and compartments in the hopes of finding something. Unfortunately all he came away with was an intricately carved wooden wand. Nothing useful. When his vampire acquaintance left for his hunt Regulus would head out and try to find his own apartment.
As Louis dressed his thoughts were all over the place. Not only was he unsure of the man in his room, but he was still trying desperately to remember something, anything! But no matter how hard he tried, nothing was there. Not even the smallest memory to cling to, to give him some clue as to know more of himself and the stranger and potential blood donor in his room.

Once dressed he walked back to the bedroom and saw that the other had emptied a bag. “Is…did you find anything to help you remember who you are?” He wanted to be hopeful, wanted to believe he’d found some small bit of information, but from the look on his face that didn’t seem to be the case. “I don’t know if you’re my blood donor,” he blurted out. “It makes sense in a lot of ways, but what if I’m wrong? Would you let me feed from you even if you don’t know for certain?” If Louis were human the thought of a vampire drinking from him would be frightening. “I don’t want to make you uncomfortable or feel like you have to do something you don’t want to.”

He closed his eyes momentarily, the scent of the other filling his senses. He really needed to feed. Not that the stranger was in any kind of danger of Louis attacking him, but the hunger was there and making itself very known. “I will do whatever you want. You’ve been kind. I like to think we’re friends even if you’re not my blood donor.” Maybe the stranger had a bad day and Louis had invited him to stay the night or something.
“Unfortunately not.” Regulus sighed as he looked over the belongings he had laid out upon the bed. Clothing, keys to the apartment he couldn’t remember, a phone, and some snacks. There was nothing that could tell him who he was except the phone and it was locked. He just kept disappointing himself today. Regulus sighed as he slipped the rest of his supplies in his bag before gathering up his clothing. He should get dressed as well. A walk might do something to help with those missing memories. Something outside would be familiar. He hoped.

He got up to leave the room and figure out where the bathroom was when the vampire started talking again. He was being childish. He realized that now. The other male was simply looking out for him. He was actually thinking about Regulus and his comfort while Regulus, mentally, made a bigger deal than he needed to about the whole blood donor thing. “It’s not…” Regulus sighed as he tried to figure out what he was feeling about the entire situation. More than worrying about his own safety and comfort he worried about being useful. Something in the past he couldn’t remember had, possibly literally, beaten the idea that his comfort and desires didn’t matter.

He took a moment to collect himself before looking back towards the vampire. “I’d be willing to let you.” He said. “I’m not afraid of you. I know you wouldn’t hurt me.” He still wasn’t sure why he was so certain of that. There should’ve been a little lingering suspicion for both of them but there wasn’t. “But, maybe, not tonight. We’re still trying to figure ourselves and each other out. It’s probably not a good idea to jump into anything at the moment.” While he was sure the other would understand he still felt a need to apologize. He fought through the feeling, however, and moved towards the door. “If you don’t mind waiting, I’m going to get dressed and we can both step outside? You can hunt and I’ll try to see if I find anything familiar. I have an apartment somewhere. I just need to figure out where.”
"I'm sorry you didn't find anything to help you." He had hoped there would be something to help find at least a few pieces of the puzzle, but was life ever that fair? The young man was struggling as he stood there and Louis felt bad about that. He should have just left after he dressed. He didn't feel like he was doing a lot of good by sticking around. Humans and vampires didn't generally mix. He knew that much.

"I believe you." It really did matter to him how the other felt, his comfort, his feelings. However, it was the vampire's turn to feel a little hurt and rejection wash over him when the other spoke again. He knew it was ridiculous to feel that way even a little. This stranger didn't know him and certainly didn't owe him anything. "I wa..." His words trailed off and he nodded. "I will wait." Once the bathroom door closed Louis went to pull his coat on then stood by the front door. The young man emerged a few minutes later and they left, making their way out of the building. He paused momentarily. "I'll see you around." Louis then turned and headed in the direction of the wooded area. He simply wanted to feed then go back home.
“I am, too. Maybe whatever I found could’ve helped us both.” That trust that just existed between them meant they had to, at least, be friends. If he could find some information out about himself then he was pretty sure there would be information about the vampire. A name, at the very least. “I had hoped I was the sort to keep a diary or journal or something.” Not finding one didn’t rule the possibility of one out but it did mean the possible journal was back at his apartment. Wherever that was.

“I’ll be quick.” He promised, slipping past the vampire and to the bathroom where he was quick to change and wash up. He paused for a moment when he noticed bandages wrapped tightly and securely around his left forearm. Odd. His arm felt fine. He didn’t think he’d been injured. He hesitated for a moment but decided against investigating that any further. It would be rude to keep the vampire waiting on him. Ignoring the bandage for now, he finished washing up, made a face at the revelation that he, apparently, had curls and walked out of the bathroom.

He grabbed the light jacket he’d brought with him along with the bag and followed the vampire out of the apartment. It was cold out. He didn’t seem to be dressed for the weather but that was fine. Maybe it meant he didn’t live very far. “Yeah… soon, I hope.” Because they were friends. They should want to see each other again. He watched the vampire go, immediately feeling something like loneliness and disappointment sink in as they decided to go their separate ways. That was ridiculous. They didn’t live together. They hardly knew each other at the moment. He couldn’t very well miss someone he’d only just met. Regulus took a few steps in the opposite direction before stopping. Nothing looked familiar. Nothing brought back any memories. Being completely alone, cold, and effectively homeless in an unfamiliar place was more frightening than the idea of being fed on by a vampire could ever be.
