The story went on and now involved a child. Isabela's expression didn't change much but children...something about that didn't sit right. It was that feeling again. The one she felt when she realized that the cargo she was delivering wasn't really cargo but people. People tricked into becoming slaves. Despite what others might think of Isabela, she had a moral compass that worked on occasion. Usually at the most inopportune times, but really, when was ever being good convenient. He turned the child over but there had been regret there in his face, so she couldn't fault him entirely. She probably would have done the same...
There was a nod of her head and she took a drink from the bottle, "Iit sounds like Hawke would be of more use to you than I would." There was a shrug there. She could stab, kill, and provide him with a warm bed, but none of those really required any feeling on her part. She'd disconnected feelings from all that before, so if he was under the impression that her constant presence in his bed meant that she was...feeling something more for him, he was in for a rude surprise.
It wasn't to say that there was nothing there, but sex never meant love to Isabela. It felt good when you knew what you were doing, damn euphoric at times, it settled nerves or released stress, but otherwise it was simply an action to obtain a result.
"I'm not going to condone what you did," she said, "or pretend that I know exactly what you were feeling, especially when you lost your Milah. My experiences with relationships have been...lackluster. Even if she died, you're lucky you had someone that gave that much of a damn about you. I had a husband once, and when he died, I didn't feel even the smallest ounce of pity or grief. I was ready to run through the streets naked in celebration at my new found freedom." She chuckled at the thought. If she'd done anything, it'd been to sleep with Zevran, an experience she had yet to feel any remorse for.
She shrugged, "I'm sure there was a purpose in you telling me this story, other than to let me know that you've done things in your past you regret. You're not the only one, Killian. I expect what follows now is that your crocodile is still here and my association with you could be damaging to my new life here."
