Notes:
The walk took longer than it should have, even with such a substantial order of food tucked firmly into both his hands. It was that carrying the fourteen burgers, ten cokes, and an entire cake was a difficult task for him per say, but more that his mind was wound. Carol was gone and alcohol wasn't working anymore. That was it, in a nutshell. It was another check mark in the long list of things in the annoyance category about Storybrooke. It was nothing he wouldn't get over, eventually, but that didn't mean it was going to happen over night either. That was no excuse to be less than himself though. It wasn't like the loss of women was anything new to his existence and, at least in this scenario, he could take a modicum of comfort in the fact that she hadn't been found gutted or otherwise ended up dead due to his actions. That didn't make it any easier to swallow, no more so than the endless stream of whiskey he'd dumped into his gut in the past week at any rate. It also didn't change the fact that he was who he was, he didn't lie down just because it hurt. He didn't quit out on life just because things got tough -- at least not these days or for very long at any rate -- and he sure as hell did his best to keep his word. To a lot of people it might have seemed silly, Wolverine getting caught up in the notions of guilt about delivering cheeseburgers to a young demigod who seemed quite excited at the idea, but he didn't care. He just shouldered through the door of the tower, and began the climb up the stairs to the apartment door. It was the kind of act this place needed, something to tie together the threads of insanity in a sense of camaraderie. It was the same thing every world needed, even if there weren't magic portals that dropped them into a town that felt perpetually like Christmas in the Twilight Zone. Having a glimpse of what he'd be going back to, of how he was expected to stand up and be himself for kids? Well, Logan couldn't deny that this was good practice either. So it was that, with one bag shifted and lodged between his teeth, Logan lifted his adamantium knuckles to rap a series of knocks out against the door. He doubted he'd be getting the same treatment he'd given the girl when they'd originally made plans, not that he was about to even begin explaining that one, but he found himself seriously hoping that wasn't the case. This was a lot of food to eat, even for him. |
