Logan returned the affection in kind before settling back into his seat.
"Memories.." He let himself drift for a moment. "I know what it's like to wake up one day, knowing nothing." He looked at Carol, rather seriously. It was a topic they'd glazed over on an occasion, but Logan had never really elaborated. He even chuckled at himself, rather dryly. "It's no wonder Barton gave us a load of crap." He added. Terrible at it as he might have been, Logan was going to give an honest try.
"Not only." He retracted, grumbling at himself. Dealing with emotions was something Logan generally reserved for a punching bad or a bad guy. Sure, he wasn't shy about saying how he felt when prompted, but this was different. "I know it ain't even the same thing, not really. I know what it's like, feelin' like a ghost inside your own head. I get that feelin' that sometimes, nothin' makes sense." After all, he'd had his head, his whole life so he'd recently discovered, poked at like it was all just some game. "I was just tryin' to say you ain't gotta worry about that, should it happen again. With me." Because eloquence was for people who were good at this.
Maybe it was all the business he'd yet taken the time to deal with, but it wasn't exactly a small plate. Getting all of his memories back had been a shock by itself, but then Romulus, Daken, even seeing a less dead Steve so recently, never mind all this new turbulence a la Wade Wilson? It was a lot to look at all at once. Maybe it was the fact that Logan knew, sooner more likely than later, the two of them would be back to back, throwing punches at something. To Logan, it was a quiet moment of which he planned to take full advantage.
"I'm sayin' I like this." He finally seemed to have found a way to truncate it all down and get it out simply. "You." He clarified. "And with everything that's happened, and my bein' an ass.." Because yes, he was going to accept he'd been one again, and be done with it. "...I just wanted to say this ain't a thing I'm takin' lightly. An I know this place has a knack for yankin' people out, and sometimes?" Logan huffed. "Sometimes not everybody comes back with everything in tact."
Logan gave Carol's hand a firm squeeze. "I just wanted to look you in the face and make sure it got said." And with that, they could shut up and eat if that's where it went.
