"Clearly you don't spend enough time with me." Logan grunted. "Or maybe I just don't swear enough in front of you, but if you really think that guy could take me in a shouting match?" Logan chuckled. "Well, then I'm gonna be more than happy to take all your money when that day comes. Just you wait."
Laughter. Laughter was one of the things that was different. It was strange, having that sudden realization. Every woman Logan had taken company with had been someone he had to look after, and it always ended badly. It was like a never ending cycle of atonement, and one that Logan kept putting on himself at that. It was why there was little in the ways of tender moments, why Logan always did his best to keep them so kind of secret. It was to keep them safe. But he didn't need to keep Carol safe. Right? Stuffing his hands in his pockets, Logan let the thoughts roll over in his mind while they walked.
"Amnesia I can handle." Logan replied, rather frankly. "All it's gonna take it to let you hit me and you'll remember in know time." Logan rapped on his own head, as if to make a point, but he wasn't entirely joking either. Despite the lack of talking about titles or what they were, Logan didn't quit on people. Sure, maybe in the real world, where this all felt like some kind of weird, post hypnotic, dream, he'd keep his mouth shut. Here though, where he knew damn well what was in front of him? Nu-uh. No way.
"Heh." Logan smirked at her, letting the levity flow naturally between them. "You sure as hell ain't cheap." Logan grinned. "S'what I like about you. Besides, none of the good things in life are cheap. You always gotta put in somethin'." And the blank space, the one were Logan could have filled it in with something romantic or even sentimental? He was silent, save for the soft hook of a gruff finger against Carol's hip, tugging the two of them a bit closer together as the walk came to a close.
"Is that how that works?" Logan asked, stepping into the restaurant with Carol. "'Cause if it is...I'm gonna be payin' for everything forever."
