Entry tags:character: alec tremont, character: andy johansen, character: mickey o'hare

Who: Andy and Alec
When: Friday, June 11
Where: Andy's room
What: Andy's got something Alec might want
Rating: PG-13 for use of weed
Status: private/incomplete

After Char had left scathing notes about the stink of the room on the mental notepad last time Andy had been out, he'd made a few small changes to his habits. He'd cobbed together a window seat that was relatively level with the bottom ledge of the window in his room, wide enough to sit on. A small table was nearby, a highball glass filled with drink already poured. A small tin box held his weed and papers, also on the table, as he sat on the bench with the window wide open. His legs dangled out, and he'd pulled the window out enough that he could sit in the open space.

He lit his first of the evening, celebrating a relaxing day by relaxing a bit more. Drawing the smoke into his lungs, he held it, letting the lassitude begin before he exhaled and reached for a drink.

"Because I'm an asshole," Alec said simply. "You went into chemical engineering to get high on fumes?"

"Can't argue that," Andy agreed. "At least from what I've seen and gotten notes on. So's he, sometimes. Certainly is to the rest of us in here."

He snorted. "No, that's a handy byproduct. I like it. Working with things that make other things. And I've got a head for it." He tapped the side of his forehead. "I remember chemical equations, heat transfer, see the places where things fit together. Which doesn't help anything here, but was handy when I was trying to take tests while still drunk from the night before."

"He wants to be himself. He wants his other life." Alec leaned down to peer out the window. "He can't have that, and can't accept it. He didn't even know me, when he called me in. The other him did, and it's only because he hacked into Auto-Jimmy's life that he knew of me at all."

He shrugged. "It might still be useful. You never know. I was never much good at chemistry. Or I was good at all the wrong sorts... I liked the kind that blew things up and necessitated the evacuation of the building. I didn't mean to create mustard gas... or did I?" Alec grinned.

"Where did you go to school?"

"So. You're friends with the other him, and now you're here and can be friends with this him. You're right about the not accepting it thing, though. He hates that he wakes up as one of us." But there wasn't much Andy could do about that accept life as it was.

"RPI. Bethlehem for high school, but RPI for everything after that. Got myself in and didn't bother to leave, since I found myself an advisor that liked me and didn't mind the still in the lab." Andy grinned. "And sure, if we need me to deconstruct plastic, I'm on it, but I don't think we've got the resources here to do the kind of work I was doing. Hell, not even sure how it'd apply."
