Alec closed his laptop and stalked down the hall to Mickey's room. He didn't bother to knock, just twisted the doorknob and stepped inside, shutting it behind him. He leaned back against it, crossing his arms over his chest, and glared at Jimmy.

"You youthened," he said blandly, not allowing his surprise to show. "It's an improvement. You didn't age well."

"Why wouldn't I bother? I was offered a job, with a reference from a dear old friend. It seemed that if it was something that was sufficient to make him move all the way across the country for it, it would be worth my time as well. But he didn't, did he?" He took another step closer to Jimmy, close enough now that he could easily reach out and touch him if he chose.

	It didn't bother Jimmy how close Alec was getting. Jimmy might not play football anymore, but he was still large and broad enough that he didn't feel threatened. He spread his hands. 	His fingers curled in the front of Jimmy's shirt, and his other hand came up so he could brush the tips of his fingers over the taller man's temple. Wheels started turning in his mind, sifting through a small pile of information in the background, turning over old emails that had never belonged to him directly in the first place. Checking facts, confirming small details.

Fact: Alec was an asshole, much of the time anyway. And fact: "We don't have that sort of relationship. You've never been interested. Altering that now would mess with the delicate balance required to work together." Which wasn't an excuse, just a statement of the mess he could see being made by giving in to whatever test Alec was proposing.

"Wrong," Jimmy said simply. "I am him. You just need to wrap your head around the physics of the situation. And you've never once referenced it in a single email, and I doubt it'd be left out. I'm not saying I'm not interested; just that you never were."

The advantage of knowing himself as well as he did was having access to everything he did, including things he thought were private. And they were, since the only person sharing them was himself.

Alec turned that over in his mind, considering the situation. Was it worth it, just to see how far he could push things? His irritation was like an itch under his skin, and he didn't know of many ways to make the feeling go away. Fighting was one, but Jimmy wouldn't engage.

"Shall I point out that while you may have obtained certain information about the other version of you's life and interactions, there is no possible way that you are privy to every face-to-face interaction said other self has had? I might also point out that the reason you called me here is because, among my many skills, I am able to access electronic data that should not be accessible to anyone but its rightful owner. I don't tend to like people to know my business, and since I do not kid myself that I am the only person as good as what I do as I am, I am very careful about what I commit to pixels. And, as I said, you're younger than I'm used to. It's an improvement." His gaze was intense, like he meant to look straight through him to the inside of his skull.

"I'm privy to what I wrote to my sisters," Jimmy pointed out. "Trust me, if you'd fucked me? I'd know." Given how aware Jimmy was of privacy issues, it always surprised him how open his other self was in communications with his family. The fact that Jimmy was able to break any encryption his other self had set was an advantage, however, that the average person burrowing into his affairs wouldn't have.

And given what Jimmy's said about Alec in the past, he was sure that if anything had happened, it would've been mentioned. And now, it had been a damned long time, and he was sure Alec was trying to push him, and he almost didn't care. "Do I remind you of when we first met? It's one advantage; I don't change." It was the closest he might come to explicitly saying something about what he was, here in this body. "But body doesn't matter, I'm still me. Same guy you knew."

"Mm," Alec said, an absolutely noncommital sound. "And if I hated the guy I knew, I wouldn't be here, would I? Unless I came to fuck you... over." His lips quirked into that smug little smile he had that tended to irritate people. "But I didn't. I'm here because a friend asked me to be. You asked me to be. So."

He let go of the front of Jimmy's shirt, smoothing his hand over the wrinkles he'd created, letting it slide up to spread against the back of his neck. They were close enough that he could feel Jimmy's breath on his skin. "The choice is yours."

	Fuck, it had been way too long. He didn't care why or what, just that there was an opportunity here that might not be around the next time he was out and he should take advantage of it.
