Who: Alec Tremont and Jimmy Banks
When: Sunday, June 13, 2096
Where: Jimmy's room
What: Alec has something to give Jimmy
Status: Closed, Complete

Alec went to Jimmy's room and knocked on the door. He'd seen him, and hid from him, earlier in the day. He'd spent the day trying to decide whether he wanted to see him, and whether he was drunk enough, or sober enough (he couldn't decide which was better), to face him.

He'd finally settled on sober, and showered and changed to make himself presentable. He waited for the door to open and thrust a small box at the other man. "I made you something," he said. "I've been drunk for two days."

"Not sleeping yet." Although it was a battle for Jimmy; he was one of those men for whom sex was like a drug, sending his mind straight into a point of relaxation and readiness for sleep afterwards, no matter the time of day. But it was still early enough that he could wrestle his mind into line, and that fear of doing exactly that -- losing himself right now -- was enough to keep him pushing sleep away.

His hand moved lazily over Alec's skin. "Quiet how?" His voice was a low rumble, not wanting to disturb the silence in the room.

Alec stretched, arching like a cat into the touch before settling back against him. "In my head. I can't stop my mind from racing, and sometimes my thoughts get so loud... but not now. It's quiet now." His voice was barely above a murmur, his lips brushing the other man's skin as he spoke.

"Sounds like sex all the time is the answer." Jimmy didn't comment that apparently it was a good thing he was handy, although he wondered if that's all this was, an addiction needing to be fed to quiet Alec's mind.

There were these odd disconnects that Jimmy hiccuped over all the time, but tried not to show in his attempt to be as normal as he could. Things where he knew his other self had a connection but he didn't, not yet. And now, when he realized that he had a connection with Alec that his other self likely had never had.

Even if he was being used, the sex was good. Jimmy couldn't quite lie to himself and tell himself there was a chance at more.

Alec pushed himself up on his elbow and leaned over him, one corner of his mouth quirking as he bent his head to kiss him softly. "Wouldn't be so bad..."

The half smile slipped away, though. "It's not just that, though. It's this." The words weren't easy; it cost him to admit it, and he couldn't force anything more past the tip of his tongue. Especially since he didn't really know what this was, except a place, a moment, where he felt safe.

A kiss like that made it easy for Jimmy to fool himself, and he reached up, hand tangling in Alec's hair as he pulled him in for another one.

"This?" he asked in confusion. "This room? Us..." The reason occurred to him in a quick flash of understanding, and his smile quirked rueful. "Because no matter how many times you let me fuck you, I'm safe. Because you don't think I'm real."

"No." Alec scowled. "Now I'm making you stupid."

He focused on the warmth of Jimmy's body, the way his hands still moved against his skin, keeping everything else at bay. Stay calm and find the words, he told himself. You have to get this right.

"I was wrong about that," he said softly. "You're real. You're not the same Jimmy I knew, entirely, but you're real. You're a full time reality with a part time body." And he was only starting to understand how much that must suck. "And you're not safe. You're not anything like safe, except you make me feel safe, and I don't understand it and..."

He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "This. I'm still here, and so are you."

Jimmy wasn't fully following. Or a part of him wanted to follow this, wanted to read into what he wanted to get out of life, but he couldn't trust it. "We're still here," he echoed quietly. "As long as I don't sleep."

He wondered, for a brief moment, just how long he could stay awake, but he remembered the vicious headaches and hallucinations the last time he tried that. It wasn't a solution. "Don't know how I'm keeping you safe, but I'll keep trying," he said quietly. Not quite sure if it was what was meant, or asked for, he did what he wanted anyway and canted his head to steal a kiss to seal those words.

Alec seemed to melt into it, then laid his head on Jimmy's shoulder. "I don't know either," he admitted. "You just do."

He traced his thumb along the angle of the other man's jaw absently. "Even when you go to sleep... when you come back... when," not if, when, "this happens again, you'll still stay. You'll let me stay. Like..." I matter. But the words wouldn't come out, so he just shrugged.

"I like having you here." It had been a long time, a very long time since Jimmy had something like this. It was strangely peaceful. "Can't see a point in dumping you out of bed."

His jaw tightened through a long pause before he said quietly, "You won't want to spend the night." A hard admission for him.

"I know." His voice was barely audible. "But 'til then? I'm sure you've got movies on your laptop. Or something." He lifted his head again to look Jimmy in the eye.

Jimmy winced faintly as the everpresent music inside his head shifted. The movie in my mind. The dream they leave behind. A scene I can't erase. "What I don't have can be downloaded, thousands of vids to choose from. You name it, I've probably got it, considering."

Considering four people were gathering the links, with four very different sets of tastes. "Or there's a game on." And a tuner in his laptop to pick up the live broadcast. It wasn't football, not this time of year, but soccer would do, or baseball. In the absence of football, Jimmy wasn't entirely picky about which sport to have on.

Alec wrinkled his nose at the suggestion of watching any kind of game. "Jock," he said, but his tone was teasing. "Pick whatever you want. I'll just insert my own commentary if I don't like it."

The advantage to the tuner was that it was already in the laptop, and there was a remote control on the small table next to the bed, which meant he didn't actually have to get out. He rolled slightly towards Alec, reaching across him to grab the remote. Pressing a button, the vid of choice was sports -- baseball -- simply because that's where it was last tuned.

Alec smirked as he leaned back against Jimmy. "Don't say I didn't warn you."
