Dean helped her down the best he could, a few little stumbles here and there but they still moved. He then stopped at the ladder which went down. He looked both ways, up one end of the alley then down the other. The undead still off around any corners.
He then let go of her hand. "Okay, you are gonna have to carry this for me till we get down." He lifted his bag and placed it over her shoulder. He wasn't gonna take the chance of dropping it down and make any more noise than he had to. He then took her hands and he backed up to her, crouching a bit, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Lock your arm like this." He took her hand to place on her forearm and grasped it tightly. "Whatever you do, just don't let go, sweetheart." He then placed the torch in her other hand.
He paused a moment for more instruction. "I placed in your hand a portable torch. Feel the trigger, pull it and it will blast the fire out. Just point it where I tell you, okay."
He then moved to the ladder, carrying her, "Hold on, sweetheart." He took a few breaths then swung around out to it and instantly started climbing down.
