Unexpected shopping trip (Enigma)
(Takes place before Joker gets her)

Damon knew that Elena didn't need a wedding. They were vampires, they would live forever, there would be no growing old together, no having children together, they both loved each other and wanted to spend eternity with each other. But deep down he knew that Elena was still the kind of girl who had dressed of that prefect wedding day since she was a little girl, so he decided that that was one dream he could actually make happen. He just hoped he was the kind of man that she could imagine herself marrying. He went to the jewelry store and his eyes scanned over the wide variety of engagement rings that were on offer. He wanted to get her someone a little original, but something he knew she would love. And then he spotted it. The pink diamond stone with the small band of diamonds on it. "Can I see that one?" he asked the attendant, pointing to the ring.

Enigma made a face at his happiness, before giggling and wrapping an arm around Damon's waist, giving him a hug. "Yes, we made up," she said, giggling. "And had amazing make up sex. Pity I had to almost lose him to get it."

She snuggled close against him, mostly because she was really freaking cold. "Just make sure to get a jump on it before anyone steals her away," Enigma warned. "She's quite a catch."

Damon wasn't good with these kind of displays of affection so he awkwardly patted her back. "Okay, I really don't need to hear about your sex life, Enigma. I mean, unless you'd like me to fill you in on mine and Elena," he said.

He was glad that they had a sex life now. And what a sex life too. Damon was 170 and he could honestly say that sex with Elena was definitely the best he had ever had. "Believe me when I tell you that I am aware of that fact, and have no intention of letting her be stolen from me," he said. There was a bit of an edge to his voice, because it had taken so long for him to get to this place with Elena he wasn't about to let anyone disrupt it.

She wrinkled her nose at him, snorting. "I doubt it's better then mine, and you were a part of my sex life once, so don't make it sound like I have cooties." She stuck her tongue out at him, her most popular retort before glancing behind them to make sure Timmy wasn't getting into trouble. "You don't have to pat my back, Damon, I'm using you as a giant water bottle, relax, stand there and look affronted," she teased, looking up at him.

"So how are you going to propose? That's very important."

"Elena and I are vampires. We can endure a lot more, and have a hell of lot of stamina. There's a lot of the pain, pleasure mix going on, and the whole act of feeding from each other is the biggest rush you could possible get. Plus, I'm 170 years old so I have a whole lot more experience than your guy, I have done every position you could imagine, and Elena was a cheerleader so she is incredible flexible," he said. "So you can doubt it all you want, but mine is better." "And yes, just once," he added.

He moved his hands away. "You know that vampires are colder than humans, right?" he asked. "I plan to decorate the house for Christmas, and get a lot of candles and flowers and there will be champagne and music playing and I'll be wearing a suit and when she gets home I'll get down on one knee and asked her to spend eternity with me." He waited, having a feeling that she would knock his idea.

"It could have been more if you didn't tell my fucking boyfriend," she said, rolling her eyes. "Honestly, Damon, tact. You didn't need to tell complete strangers I held you up and then fucked you senseless."

She pouted, snuggling even closer. "Don't care, you're warmer then Timmy." She sighed softly, resting her cheek on his arm, silent for a moment before she looked up at him. "Could there have ever been anything between us?" she asked softly, curious.

She loved Bruce, but Damon held a special place in her heard after spending the time she had with him and Elena. If she didn't have Bruce...she could easily see herself falling for him.

"Well, it wasn't just your boyfriend that is the reason for not having more. There's Elena being here, and her and I being together. And that is something I can't ever risk losing," he said.

He furrowed his brow at her question. "Honestly... I don't know. I don't fall in love easily. I've loved two women in 170 years. I know that I care about you, more than I care about some people I've known for years. If we'd had a chance, who knows. It could have led somewhere," he said. He was being honest with her.

She smiled, leaning up to lightly kiss his cheek. "Thank you," she said, honestly touched by his words and his honestly. It was just as she was lowering herself to her feet that she sneezed so violently she backed into and knocked over a display case, another loud sneeze following, sending her to the floor.

She sniffled, wiping at her nose, promptly sneezing again. The action caused it to feel like something was stuck in her throat and she coughed violently.
