Night's End (Lindsey)
Takes place just after this

The night had gone very well in Lois's opinion. She'd gotten some good quotes and just enough backstory to keep things interesting in regards to the opening of the opera house. The article was still leaning toward puff piece, but Lois supposed that every reporter had to pay their dues on that sometime.

And besides, she'd had a fantastic night. The opera truly had lived up to the expectations and it had been... nice to be out with someone when it wasn't strictly business. Sure, she was there in a professional capacity. But Lindsey had been there as her date-or escort, or whatever the proper term was. It had been nice to have that. Nice to have someone to dance with and talk to. So far during her time in the City, she hadn't exactly made any friends. That wasn't new to Lois-she could be a little bit abrasive and with her line of work, friends usually didn't come easy. All the same, she wasn't hating the time spent with Lindsey.

Then again, Lois did have a knack for finding men who could be trouble. She hadn't forgotten Lorne's warning, nor would she just ignore it. She just knew that she couldn't live her life in fear of things that might or might not happen. And maybe that was part of what was attracting her to Lindsey-that mystery. She definitely didn't know the whole story and she couldn't help but wonder-it was in her nature to wonder. Maybe spending time with him wouldn't get her answers and she valued the new friendship (or whatever else it might be) too much to press too hard. All the same, she couldn't help but want to solve the mystery surrounding the lawyer.

"This is my place," she said as Lindsey's truck turned down the street where her apartment was.

Not surprisingly, Lindsey's cheek tingled where Lois's lips touched.

You don't like monster trucks, do you?

His eyebrow arched, and he looked down at her, slightly puzzled. He'd never heard those words outta a girl's mouth before. Ever.

He wasn't a giant fan or anything, but there were few kinds of trucks Lindsey didn't like. He'd prefer a good classic car show any day of the week, but there was something that was a lot like back home about anything that had to do with trucks and racing (or wrecking) them.

Lindsey smirked. "They're ok. You tryin' to ask me out again?"

Lois would be quick to point out that she wasn't a normal girl. Not even a little bit. She did laugh softly at the question.

"I don't know. It could just be two friends enjoying a night out with monster trucks?" she asked with a small smile.

She wasn't opposed to the idea of a date, though she'd had her heart broken enough over the past few years that she was just a little bit gunshy. However, she hadn't missed the fact that this night out had felt distinctly date-like and Lois did like to test her boundaries sometimes.

His eyebrow raised and lowered. Lindsey did an awful lot of that dance between together and not together, especially with Darla. Lois was obviously a much nicer girl... 'girl,' too. Human.

Eve hadn't been human, not really. And being in lust with a vampire for so long wasn't normal, either.

Maybe he was getting soft in his old age.

"Could be," he said.

Couple years back, he remembered that there was a song on the radio with a chorus about Superman being dead. It popped into his brain and a smirk crept across his face. Lindsey leaned forward and gave Lois a similar kiss on the cheek, like the one she'd given him.

"Guess we'll see. I'll go with ya, though."
