Break Out the Champagne (Open to all)
The votes were in and the announcement had been made. Jack's campaign manager had already made arrangements for a victory party, just in case. This was a new concept to him. Back home, when his mother had been dethroned, the citizens had celebrated in the streets. But there hadn't been a party to celebrate his victory. Of course, that was because it really wasn't his victory at all. He'd worked behind the scenes to set things up, but in the end it had been Alice that had made it possible for them take back Wonderland and free the Oysters (and the general populace from the addiction to the false emotions bottled in tea form that had been generated from the Oysters).

All the same, Jack was just a little bit uncomfortable with being treated as though he'd had a great accomplishment by winning the election. Becoming the leader of a place wasn't a prize to be won. It was a duty, and for sure an honor that he'd won. But an achievement? No. Making things better for those who lived here would be an achievement, if he could accomplish it.

So while he didn't feel that he 'deserved' a party, he was here nonetheless. His campaign manager had insisted that it was a good way to get to know those who had voted for him, and to start earning their trust as leader.

Jack straightened his tie and surveyed the reception hall. Waiters in tuxedos milled around with trays of champagne and h'ors d'oeurves while a few security guards watched the perimeter. A band struck up the first few chords of a song and a few people in formalwear had started to arrive,

Unfortunately, Jack thought that if the boy with the vividly colored spiky hair decided to crash, the security force wouldn't be able to keep him out. But since the last rally, no one had complained about him wearing his sword wherever he went.

OOC: any characters are welcome, and feel free to socialize amongst yourselves as well as giving your character the chance to meet and greet the new mayor.

"I don't know. I think Fred's brain just works very differently," Dinah defended her. "I don't think it's crazy so much as... brilliant and possibly looking at the world in a different way."

"I'm fine," she said, waving off his concern. "Bank robbers I can handle. Kind of enjoying the break from being shot, stabbed, or bitten actually," she said with a small smile.

Of course, the fact that she'd been spending more time at home with Jake might have played a part in that. But back home, she didn't get injured nearly so much as she had during her first few months in the City. Just something about this place seemed to be continually catching her off her guard. So it had been good to have a nice, normal fistfight for once.

"We usually live for the days when it's just normal robbers and not something like the Deep Ones from Innsmouth." She liked Lovecraft! Sue her! After some of the things she has encountered Lovecraft was light reading to fall asleep reading.

Dean nodded, smiling slightly. Hey, he read, but did he really need to read what he lived? Other than the whole set of books based on his life. Yeah, he didn't get the joke.

"I hate dealing with humans. They're usually crazier than the big bads that come from Hell or Purgatory." Dean actually shuddered thinking of the humans he'd had to deal with on occasion. He certainly did like dealing with normal everyday supernatural creatures. "Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm human - and, trust me, I know how fucked up I am." He smirked.

"The Joker was human," Dinah said by way of agreement with Dean's statement. Her eyes took on a haunted look for the briefest of moments before she attempted to shove those memories back where they belonged.

Zee hadn't heard more than she needed to about Jake and his kidnapping. The details were still too painful to talk about, and Dinah was too focused on moving forward.

She looked at the two and attempted a smile. It really was getting late and she supposed she'd come and shown her support for Fred, who she couldn't see anymore. She hadn't actually gotten to dance, but she supposed there was always next time there was some sort of formal event.

"And on that cheery note, I should probably get going." She stood and then leaned over to hug Zee first.

"You two enjoy the rest of your night," she told them.

Zee figured Dinah would tell her about the Joker stuff when she was ready. That guy was bad news at the best of times. When he got into your head it was nightmare worthy.

Of course then Dinah was excusing herself and hugging Zee who blinked in surprise then snipped out a whisper in her ear while faking a smile. "I am going to kill you for this you realize." But she wouldn't stop her friend from leaving. For all Zee knew Dinah needed to be somewhere.

"Gee, thanks." She gave Dinah a wry smirk as she let her go.

Dean's brow rose. Dinah was actually going to leave them alone together? He looked over at the women as they hugged before he glanced at the bar's entrance.

"Why don't I walk you both home?" Maybe if he wasn't alone, the crazy reporter wouldn't hassle him. Yes, he was hiding from the drama that was sure to ensue should Lois Lane ever catch him. He wasn't in the mood. "Or at least get you a cab? So you don't have to teleport." He explained quickly to the injured mystic.

He didn't think the mystic would want to stick around once Dinah left, and he was giving her an out. He wasn't even sure he wanted to stay in a party that really wasn't him.

She watched Dinah go as Dean tried uselessly to keep her nearby. Zee smirked to herself as she chuckled and shook her head a little bit. That woman was on a mission. What it was exactly, Zee wasn't sure but there would be no stopping her once she got the bit between her teeth.

She turned a smile back to Dean that held just the edge of slyness to it. "What? Leave already? I haven't even had a dance." She arched her brows. Pointedly.

[ooc: Kelly said to continue without Dinah]
