Break Out the Champagne (Open to all)
The votes were in and the announcement had been made. Jack's campaign manager had already made arrangements for a victory party, just in case. This was a new concept to him. Back home, when his mother had been dethroned, the citizens had celebrated in the streets. But there hadn't been a party to celebrate his victory. Of course, that was because it really wasn't his victory at all. He'd worked behind the scenes to set things up, but in the end it had been Alice that had made it possible for them take back Wonderland and free the Oysters (and the general populace from the addiction to the false emotions bottled in tea form that had been generated from the Oysters).

All the same, Jack was just a little bit uncomfortable with being treated as though he'd had a great accomplishment by winning the election. Becoming the leader of a place wasn't a prize to be won. It was a duty, and for sure an honor that he'd won. But an achievement? No. Making things better for those who lived here would be an achievement, if he could accomplish it.

So while he didn't feel that he 'deserved' a party, he was here nonetheless. His campaign manager had insisted that it was a good way to get to know those who had voted for him, and to start earning their trust as leader.

Jack straightened his tie and surveyed the reception hall. Waiters in tuxedos milled around with trays of champagne and h'ors d'oeurves while a few security guards watched the perimeter. A band struck up the first few chords of a song and a few people in formalwear had started to arrive,

Unfortunately, Jack thought that if the boy with the vividly colored spiky hair decided to crash, the security force wouldn't be able to keep him out. But since the last rally, no one had complained about him wearing his sword wherever he went.

OOC: any characters are welcome, and feel free to socialize amongst yourselves as well as giving your character the chance to meet and greet the new mayor.

Jack hadn't spotted his girlfriend just yet. He smiled and tipped his own glass of champagne to Zatanna.

"Thank you. Though I've been hearing that an awful lot lately, and I don't think winning the election in itself is an accomplishment. The people have put their trust in me, and I can only hope that I live up to that."

Dinah had left a message for Harry. She was going to turn out to show her support for Fred and Fred's boyfriend either way, but she thought it might be nice for them to spend some time together at the party. Assuming Harry wasn't holed up in his lab or working a case, of course.

Either way, she arrived a little bit late herself and spotted Fred almost immediately. She approached her friend and gave Fred a little hug.

"You look beautiful. Congratulations to Jack."

She followed Fred's line of sight to where Jack and Zatanna were talking and then glanced back at Fred.

"So, how are you doing, now that the election's finished?" she asked.

She'd had experience in dating a paparazzi magnet herself. Ollie had even been mayor of Star City for awhile, so she could relate to what Fred might have gone through during the election and what might be in store for her now that Jack was mayor. Of course, mayor of one city within a state that was part of a country was different than being mayor of a City that was a place all unto itself. As far as the City was concerned, there was no higher position beyond being mayor. Unless, of course, the City decided to suddenly open up a position for a President or King.

Zee was ready for the shutterbugs this time. Her eyes slid to the side then narrowed, her lips curling into a small wry smirk and her fingers flicked towards the cameras subtly, a gesture she hid. "desopxerevO." There was no sparkling light, no poof, nothing to give her away but those photos wouldn't give the paparazzi a jar of peanutbutter.

Turning her attention fully back to Jack, she lifted her smile into something less sly. "Well then congratulations on winning the opportunity to accomplish what you want to." Okay maybe her smile was a little cheeky. "Better?"

Fred smiled at Dinah as she just appeared out of nowhere. Fred knew that the superheroine hadn't just appeared, but it did fit. The woman could do almost anything as far as Fred was concerned. Her friend, the magician/mystic/whatever they were called these days, could do the rest.

"Oh, not sure why you're giving me congratulations when he's the one that did it, but I'm sure he'd be thankful if he knew. He's a good guy that way." She peeked over at the man of the hour and the woman with him. "I didn't have a problem during the election, so I guess I'm about the same. He's a very busy guy, and he's probably going to be a whole lot busier. 'A whole lot busier' that just doesn't sound right."

She shook her head at the man with his tray full of champagne; she really wasn't in the mood to drink. She wasn't in a bad mood, just a contemplative one, which for a woman like Fred could be very dangerous.

"How are you? You don't look too banged up. You must heal rather quickly. Guess that's a superhero thing, don't you think?" Fred could probably see a few nicks and bruises from their tussle the other night, and she'd guess there were more from Dinah's other bouts of heroics. But, Dinah still looked wonderful.
