Books for Charlie (Narrative)
It was her day off, and Jennifer found herself running around town doing some errands. For the first time in her entire life, she actually liked doing errands. Maybe it was due to the lack of advertising everywhere. The fact that there existed off-brand products at all.
Not to mention, she was kind of starting to like the snow. It was cold, sure, but it was a lot of fun, too. She couldn't help but smile as she passed by children and their snow creations, or laugh when she artfully dodged the giant snowball fight that she saw.
Her last errand was going to the library. She'd told Charlie that she'd get him the book about young Hannibal Lecter, and she was determined to. Just so he could know. While she was there, she picked up the other ones to read again for herself, just because. She'd been a fan before, she wanted to know what it would feel like to have the younger version in the same place she was while she was reading it. She'd have to read the newest one, too. She only knew about it from looking at things on the computer, she had no idea how it read.
As she walked in high spirits to the office, she passed a pet store. With a grin, she ducked inside and about twenty minutes later popped back out with a small bowl containing a very pretty male betta and a bag of food to put in the fridge. It only occurred to her that she might have started off with a goldfish after she was at the office doors.
Jennifer really hoped that Charlie knew how to take care of a betta.
She left the fish and the books on his desk and the food in the freezer part of their small fridge before heading home again. Hopefully Jake would like the large fresh tuna she'd bought at the grocery store.
