Swoon alert!!!!!
Fans of Richard Armitage, Regency/period stories, epic romance through adversity should really watch the BBC's North & South.
Not to be confused with the American epic mini of the same or similar name, this is a really well done adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel. A real joy to watch and I am not ashamed to say I did it in one sitting.
(If you haven't guessed by now I am not just a hopeless romantic but the condition is quite terminal as well.)

My heart breaks worse I think in the scene where she leaves after her father's death. "Look back, look back at me."

And the long pulled shot where she does not do that one thing.

AGH! Why are men not made like that any more?

*sigh* Now I need to go put that on Netflix. Or drive seven hours to see Cary since she smugly announced she got it for Christmas. Little midget over there flaunting her acquisition. Grrr.

I netflix'd it myself, watched it again today. I am a big fan of regency and do costuming and such. Rarely get to talk to others who love it as well. I am a bit of a history and all period costume nut.

Downloading North & South now and just finished the BBC mini of P&P. Trying to talk my nieces into reading Austin's work, agreed that I will read Twilight if they read P&P

That is really the best version of P&P out there in my opinion. I wasn't all that blown away by the Keira Knightly rendition, not when comparied to the wonderful scope of the BBC miniseries. You know, you could always pop "Clueless" into the DVD player and explain to your neices that it was based on "Emma." (Or am I SERIOUSLY dating myself by even bringing up that movie? I'm so old.)

And nope, I don't do wallpapers. I occasionally make a pretty banner or two, but you can see all the mistakes I make in something as small as an icon. ;) Sorry.

(BTW, Jeannie is SO not going to like Marian.)

I had a feeling she might not LOL. And I agree with you on the P&P series vs the movie of 2005. Really covers so much more.
Your age and mine might not be so far apart, I remember Clueless easily enough, hell I remember alot of movies older than that. LOL
