i_jest A present for The City (narrative)
It was Valentine's day.
What a day.
What to do on such a day?
Jack had ideas. He'd already done a lot of them. Like leaving cow hearts nailed to house and business doors. And writing things like 'love' and 'forever' in cow blood on windows and cars.
But his best gift, and most favorite, were the fountains.
He ran all over The City, stopping at every fountain and pond he saw, and poured cow's blood into the water until it all ran red.
Glorious!
He stopped in the park to hand off a dozen rotted roses to a couple, who didn't know quite what to think of a man giving them flowers while covered in what appeared to be (and actually was) blood.
There was a brief moment that he wished for Harley. Oh, the wonderful Valentine's beating he could give to her! What a way to celebrate! Maybe, if she'd been around, he could try to leave her with heart shaped bruises. Oh well.
Jack skipped through town, depositing his bloody gifts everywhere he went.
