"No kidding," mumbled Eric, as his brother spoke to Aaron. "And he was supposed to learn to tell time last month sometime, but we fell a little behind, didn't we?" He eyed his son sternly, as though the boy's slowness in class was entirely his fault and could be helped. "So we got a reward when we finally caught up." He looked smug as he faced his brother again. He wondered if Adam did well in school, or if Dylan would have the wherewithal to notice if the boy fell behind. For Eric, it seemed that Adam had little chance of success, growing up in a broken home, where the most present male wasn't even married to his mother. He pitied the boy, and his mother, for losing sight of the important things and settling for this immature party boy.
"So what else are you and your friend going to do today?" he asked Dylan, plastering a fake smile on his face, but definitely throwing a dagger when he referred to the boy as his friend. Aaron looked at Adam, then up at his uncle. "You should go to Chuck E. Cheese's!" he suggested. "I did cool games there one time."
