Hi guys! I'm Zoe (oceanic), I'm 27, currently funemployed (weeps into the abyss and makes icons instead of life goals), and I'm EST but I have always secretly been a vampire, so I tend to keep crazy hours. Nice to meet you all or be in games with you guys again! I fucking love space and it's been five years since I ran my own space game so I'm thrilled to be in one again.
I'm super slow to intro, SORRY, in part because I feel like I've done this already on the OOC memes and in part because my characters are OLD, and therefore have a lot of ridiculous history to summarize! Bear with me please!
✶ GRACE AHN B52 MEDIC / 32 / CLASS OF '61 / ASHLESS Grace is a nice girl from Venus! She was raised by a family who managed to very carefully bring silkworms from Earth (!!) and preserve some very ancient traditions. Admirable! Unfortunately, there's not a lot of call for genuine hand-woven silk anymore, and their determination to stay true to their craft left them dirt poor. There wasn't much they could do when Grace went blind from Venus Sickness at age 4. Or at least they didn't think they could do much, until her older brother got sick of the hand they were dealt and went out to change things. Grace doesn't know what he did, exactly, to this day. But when she was 16, he disappeared, leaving behind some of the very rare cure for Venus Sickness and an appointment for Grace to get her eyesight fixed. She's been looking for him ever since on the DL, and a large part of why she joined the RAC (besides taking care of her parents and getting off-planet) is because she's quietly trying to find him, and secretly hoping he's not a criminal. :( She graduated in '61 and has been on the B52 for 10 years now, so she's had plenty of time to get to know everyone. She's a mother hen type, and despite being painfully good-mannered and friendly, she can and will boss around her patients if they're being difficult. Sit down and let her clean your stitches don't make her sedate you. On the job, she's very level-headed in a crisis, extremely calm, efficient: you'll never doubt that she knows what she's doing, even when she's patching you up in the middle of a fight and the bullets are still flying. In her personal life, she's much less certain: frankly she's a huge introvert and doesn't understand parties or even casual social gatherings, hates being around loud people, is prone to depression and anxiety, and doesn't really...understand relationships. (She kind of thinks she's damaged goods, tbh. Thank you parents for being worried about her being unmarried at 32.) She's a really good person to go talk to if you need a shoulder to lean on, or just want to be somewhere quiet (she enforces indoor voices in the infirmary very strictly). Also: if you need your clothes mended, your body pierced, or your bargains bargained, she's your girl. PLOT! ✶ REGGIE SALAZAR TEQUILA SUNRISE CAPTAIN / 51 / CLASS OF '58 / MEZCAL Reggie is one of the few (only?) people in the RAC actually born on Earth. He was very young when the Astral Gate exploded, killing his father, but he does remember living underground on Earth until he was seven, when he and his remaining family (mother, sister) got put on a charter ship for space. Their charter ended up being the first ship on the brand new asteroid colony that they named Tijuana! He more or less grew up there, but he's always longed for space. It surprised literally no one that he ended up stowing away aboard a merchant ship when he was sixteen, kicking off a long and illustrious career. :) He started off as a freelancer, hopping around ships filling whatever positions needed filling, but sometime in his late twenties, he met a badass awesome lady named Beatrix Judd who he fell madly in love with, married, and bought a ship with her. It was called the Royal Bermuda, and she captained it; he was her navigator. They were a successful transport ship (goods and people). For a long time, Reggie was under the impression that their "no questions asked" policy was for the benefit of refugees or people struggling to deal with oppression from corruption in the ISSP, but TURNS OUT Beatrix was pretty much just making shady deals and turning the Royal Bermuda into a criminal ship, which Reggie found out when he heard there was a bounty on his ship and his wife. He tried to confront her about it, but it didn't go terribly well, and in the end, Reggie turned his wife in to the newly-formed RAC, minus a ship and a leg. :( He was recruited a couple years after to captain one of the ships that the RAC was putting together and basically got to pick the Tequila Sunrise, old dog and love of his life!! If you haven't gotten the impression from Reggie yet: his crew is his family, he's basically a big, lovable, cheeky father-figure who wants to drink with his crew, deliver manly hugs and advice, and tell stories all night long. He believes in redemption and second chances, and he has a lot of faith in people! He can be stubborn as hell and prideful, though, and frankly he's not a harsh disciplinarian (he's more of a "I'm disappointed in u" kind of dad) when he ought to be, given that this is sort of the military. He pretty much calls all his crew members mija or mijo, and he does have nicknames for some of the rest of the RAC members. :) Very few people know about his history with the Royal Bermuda (it was a long time ago, and Beatrix is the name people might remember, not his), however. PLOT! ✶ HECTOR CHASSE KAMIKAZE ENGINEER (KILLJOY) / 41 / CLASS OF '58 / IRONARMOR Originally from Mars, Hector grew up as one of the privileged: his family owns Chasse Pharma Inc., a medical technology firm that basically has a monopoly on all the cutting-edge medical advancements and keeps them out of the other colonies' hands, because they're terrible people. And, true to form, they were a pretty terrible family, too! His siblings are sharp and competitive individuals (they all either work for Chasse Parma or are doctors, now) but Hector was the biggest and roughest of his siblings, so despite actually being intelligent and hard-working, he was always pigeonholed as being athletic, stupid, even kind of a brute. Surprise surprise, he somewhat grew into those expectations over time. He did buck his family's plans by deciding to study engineering instead of medicine (they haven't forgiven him for it and his parents refuse to talk to him). He went on to work at Interstellar (Dix and Star's family's company!) designing next-gen ships. He joined the RAC when the training program opened its doors in large part because his coworkers were talking about how cool it would be and he basically couldn't stand the thought of those complete schmucks doing something impressive while he stayed behind, but luckily it was a GREAT FIT and he's been with the RAC ever since! He's been a Killjoy since that program was started in '60. He was also on the Kamikaze already when they had their accident, and basically insisted on taking over as the lead engineer. He's never going to let anything like that happen again, ty. You're probably all aware now that Hector hates people, much prefers machines, has ZERO sense of humor, and basically considers himself the Kamikaze attack dog/enforcer. He looks like a brick wall and acts like one, too. He gets along with anyone who takes their job seriously and doesn't annoy him, and he does appreciate anyone who likes a good fight. He's one of those people who uses his bluntness and unfriendliness to keep everyone at arm's length, and also his whole Killjoy status. Don't bother him: his hobbies include fixing things, drafting ships, and strangling people with his bare hands! He's loyal as hell to the Kamikaze (and yes, he will have their backs in a fight) and is known for looming threateningly behind Captain Bristol. PLOT! |
