ex-HYDRA.
I learned very early on if you didn't compartmentalize you paid for it. Before SHIELD before HYDRA. I was just a weak pathetic kid and I was given a chance to be something better.
There was never any real difference. SHIELD, HYDRA, ultimately you're right, you become a specialist, you become a weapon. Nothing matters but completing the mission
Problem is there's a lot of people who claim to be rigtious. And I thought, I actually believed I met someone genuinely good in Coulson. Turned out I was wrong. At least Garrett was honest with me. He was from the start. Said it would be hard, that there would be times where that weakness in me would crawl back in. I learned how to fight that. But that team, they got in my head.
Why'd you do it? Not HYDRA. I know all that, why'd you make yourself that guy in the army. Thing is, you don't figure out you can compartmentalize until you have to. And you figure that out a few kills in. Sink or swim.
