See, that. That's what annoys me about pack hierarchy. I mean, female or not, mate or not, everyone should be on equal grounds, she shouldn't have to be so wholly dependent on his status. Everyone should be able to be judged on their own merits. It's the whole...ranking system I hate. I mean, every pack has to have an Alpha, I get that, and not everyone has the same stengths and skills and all that. But when you set out ranks, you mentioned a second and a third...I mean...doesn't putting a number to people like that cause problems on it's own? How do you prove it's really about the strength or skill and not the Alpha playing favorites? Which, don't get me wrong, I'm not remotely suggesting that's what you do, just...in general, how do you know? Because surely some Alphas probably shouldn't be Alphas to begin with, or they let the title go to their head.
My pack, which honestly most of the wolves back home mock, isn't just werewolves. It's humans, a banshee, other werewolves... It's my mom, my girlfriend, my best friends. And there's no ranking, no second and third in command, we all have our strengths and and skills and we play to those while working on the weaknesses together. All the politics of "a real pack", I just can't stand it.
