Hunter's camp is useful, but it's really good to be home. Or, you know, in Lawrence. Home is still Beacon Hills.

Hey! Want to hang out over at my place?

You mean it's nice to be away from the hardass that is Bobby.

He's not so bad! I mean, you've got to expect that most teachers are going to be sort of tough.

Nah, he's not. I just like to give him a hard time.

And you get away with it? He must really like you. Here I thought he liked me just because he didn't call me an idiot. Or idjit, I guess.

No, but I do it anyway.

If you didn't complain or hate on the hatwear, I'm pretty sure Bobby was a fan.

Oh, the hat! I don't know. I've seen crazier fashions.

His could still use a little style. I might have to hook him up with something awesome sometime if he's going to keep the trucker dude look.

I sort of knew that'd be your answer! Or I'd hoped, at least, because if you didn't want to come over I would have had to drag you and I'm not that strong.

Oh, also, I have a notebook for you. Just in case I wasn't incentive enough.

Trust me. You're more reason than a book full of monster notes.

Good!

Hey, I wanted to apologize. For not being there last night when all of that was going on with the show and everything...

It's okay. Really. I know you would've if you were here. And you're here now. That's what matters.

I hope you got to have some fun while you were up there training to be a badass.

The training was sometimes fun in itself, but we did get a break on the fourth. Probably not like the party you guys had, but still fun. I met some people, too.

Meeting people is always a good thing and thankfully you got a break for the holiday. Because that would've sucked.

Even if I didn't get a break, it was just the fourth of July. My family's never been big on celebrating it. Still, the break was very welcome.

Man, I swear we celebrated every holiday ever in Mystic Falls and then some. Or well, I celebrated and my mom worked. But being Sheriff kinda limits the celebrating time.

We're more of a Christmas / Easter household. And my mom actually openly frowned on Valentine's Day. Holidays were limited. Your mom's the Sheriff? That's pretty cool.

What did your mom have against V-day? Sometimes it was cool and sometimes it was so the opposite of cool.

Something about the whole premise of the holiday being a way to keep women down? She never objected when my dad brought her flowers, though. He had a way of getting through her tough exterior.

I can see how that could be. Was she tough at home?

But chocolate! Who doesn't love chocolate.

She tried to be at times, but I was a pretty good kid anyway. Mostly.
