Robin Hood ([info]iamrobinhood) wrote in [info]wariscoming,
She was asleep, warm and sweet as she rested on his shoulder.

He could not recall the last time he had been this content. Maybe he never had been. For awhile, he simply let his mind wander, enjoying this peaceful moment. But, it was not long before he felt himself about to drift off-- the first time in a long time that sleep came so easily to him,-- so he got to his feet, carefully lifting her as he did. He carried her into her bedchamber, and was assailed without warning by the memory of the last time he had carried her so... only then, she had not been rosy and warm; instead, she had been pale and cold--

No. He nearly said it aloud, glad that he caught himself in time, so as not to wake her.

Then he realized that that had not been the last time he carried her. When they first got to this apartment, he had carried her across the threshold.

It did not instantly make him feel better, but it helped ease the hurt.

After seeing that she was tucked in (and breathing and real), Robin turned to go to his own bed.
