Who: Virgil Hawkins and OPEN TO ANYONE.
What: Trying to forget all the blood.
When: Random Thursday morning
Where: Apartment complex kitchen
Warning: TBA but probably none!

Virgil finally left the apartment. Though he didn't go very far, it was still an improvement from before. He didn't know how to face the living room. There was still a blood stain on the floor where Ollie had collapsed. The image was still fresh in his mind, and sometimes it was as if he could see the blood still on his hands. He didn't know how to make the feeling stop. He was always afraid. He didn't understand it. He wasn't alone, he had Bart, he had Oliver looking out for him, hell even his best friend was there now. But deep inside him he was still afraid. He'd never been away from home, not for this long, and not this far away. Richie had said that his dad was worried and upset, and that didn't help his nerves that were already in place with trying to settle into his new home.

Bang babies and metas he could handle, but demons and shootings? They made him sick. Physically and mentally he felt like he was paralyzed. Ontop of all that, he'd told Bart he loved him. Loved. As in, with heart. And he did, like a friend. But the Kryptonite made him feel more, made him act on those feelings and he confessed it before he was even solidly sure..everything in his head was confused. Relationships were not Virgil Hawkins strong point. He was still trying to figure out what love was. It hurt his head to think about it. Everything hurt and it wasn't a fun feeling. It wasn't normal for Virgil Hawkins to wear such a serious face. He was a kid who copped with things by telling obnoxious jokes, and playing little games. But he couldn't see a joke out of this one.

He toyed with a plate of food he should be eating. He hadn't been feeling up to it the last twenty four hours. Even the thought of food made his stomach churn in protest. So he just poked at it with his fork and thought about Dakota.

Peter was recovering from a rather interesting night that he'd endured. Fighting crime, doing the heroic thing, helping people - it was what he lived for. With great power came great responsibility (a phrase that he found annoyed him more than it should have now that he had actually attempted to bother with those Spider-Man movies and other sorts of Marvel media) and Peter was not about to give up his role as protector of the innocent now that he was in an alternate universe. He had spent all night sweeping the city streets for crime; it was an interesting experience when he had to keep himself extra alert for demonic presences, but all in all he saw to nothing out of the ordinary. A few gang fights and a pretty classless robbery, but nothing worth talking about afterward. Still, being a vigilante was tiring work. He had spent most of the morning sleeping, but now that he was awake Peter found that he was starving. He had skipped out on dinner the night before, what with him being so caught up on his patrol, so the ache in his belly came off almost painfully. One didn't get all physically active, work themselves into exhaustion, and not eat. Doing so was next to insane and more than painful (Peter knew, he had done it plenty of times before when he had been juggling his life around a hectic schedule), so he decided to go ahead and get something in his system before he started through with the day.

Looking tired, Peter moved into the downstairs kitchen. He would have used his own, but he was out of food. Another problem with being a dedicated vigilante: one often forgot to go grocery shopping. He wasn't surprised to find another one of the apartment dwellers inside. Someone that he didn't know terribly well, but smiled at in a friendly manner all the same. "Good morning," Peter greeted, stepping around the table and reaching for the refrigerator door. There was probably something good to eat in there. They usually kept it pretty stocked.

Virgil looked up at the sound of an unfamiliar voice and waved. "Morning." He'd made a simple breakfast, toast and an egg. Picking it up finally he nibbled at a corner as if the sound woke him from a trance of sorts. " You're up early." Trying to be friendly despite the confusion in his brain. Rubbing at his eyes with one of his hands in a boyish way he rubbed sleep from them and stood to stretch slightly. That was Peter Parker. Spidey. Bitten by a radioactive spider and given super powers. Then a duty by a murdered grandfather, geekery whistles could practically be seen whirling in his head. But on the outside he tried to keep his cool. He knew how weird it must be for everyone to know about the secret identity thing. He knew he'd be unhappy if his were revealed. The most important part about being a super hero was maintaining a secret identity, so he just grinned.

This was the best distraction he could have hoped for. "We've met before haven't we?" He tried for calm, and hoped it worked. Half turned in his chair watching him pick through the food. "I think theirs Lucky Charms in the back, those are always good."

[ooc: gonna assume Spidey is puncturable for the movies then y/y?]

There was a carton of milk, some eggs, and a few different packs of various kinds of meats and cheeses. Peter was not looking to have a sandwich for breakfast though, so he eyed the eggs thoughtfully. "It's a surprise," Peter confessed, lifting his head to look at the boy on the other side of the room, "I'm usually a late sleeper around here. Least I have been since I got here." He used to have to work on a schedule. School, work, heroics. Rinse, wash, repeat. Now that he didn't have to worry about the schooling part (why bother, none of his former student information and credits stood for anything here), he had a bit more time during the mornings to catch up and rest from the afternoon onward schedule. It was still pretty hectic, but at least he wasn't stumbling all over the place in a state of pure confusion and exhaustion.

"I...think we might have?" Peter furrowed his brow a little bit, examining Virgil curiously. "Maybe over the boards. If not..." He stepped forward and extended a hand in Virgil's direction. "I'm Peter." At Virgil's cereal suggestion, Peter smiled and nodded. It would probably be easier to pour a bowl than bother with cooking. He reached for the milk with his free hand in a decisive manner.

[ooc: Yes! He is for comics, movies, etc.]

"Me too." He admitted with a tiny sheepish grin. He wasn't in his usual hyper beaming spirits, but talking made him feel better. Made him feel more cheerful. Being around people in general did that. Virgil was easy to please. And probably one of the younger kids staying at the apartments. Which meant anything shiny was a good distraction. "Virgil." He said as he took the hand and nodded, shaking before putting his own back down on the backside of his chair where his chin rested lazily ontop of it. "It's weird like that here. Not having to worry about getting up early to go to school in the morning. But I've been doing it for so many years now, I forgot I could sleep in. " He was pleasant enough at least for not being a typical morning person of his own volition. Probably had something to do with the fact that Spiderman was standing infront of him.

"Nice to meet you, officially anyway." A smile creeping into the corners of his lips more brightly. Richie was going to flip when he found out he had talked to Peter Parker without him.

[ooc: shiny =D]

"Enjoy it while it lasts," Peter suggested. Once they had shook hands, Peter turned back to the fridge and pulled out the milk carton. Setting it aside on the counter, he moved over to the cabinets and began to rummage around for a bowl and spoon. "None of us have any idea how long we're supposed to be here. I think...I think people have been coming and going?" He looked back at Virgil uncertainly, then shrugged. "I'm trying to figure it out, actually. I've been doing some reading on alternate universes and time travel. Combining the two? Seems next to impossible. But if we could figure it out..." Peter turned back to the cabinets, pulling out the box of cereal with a hand.

Science always fascinated him. Even when things didn't look all too great for anyone here in terms of getting back home and not being attacked by monsters, Peter was able to acknowledge and appreciate what they were dealing with now. A broken seal. Was it magic based or something else entirely? Could it be reversed?

"It's nice to meet you as well," Peter continued, shaking some of the cereal into the bowl. "So are you going to tell me why you looked so down when I walked in here or is that something you don't want to talk about?"

He nodded and gave him a cheeky grin. "I'm taking advantage of it. My sister would be furious if she were here and I slept this late." Then Peter was talking about alternate universes and time travel and Virgil just listened curiously. He was good at science too, but not that good. He couldn't solve the universal mysteries the way Richie could. "You should talk to my friend Richie about that stuff. I think he's been trying to figure it out too. He made a time travel remote once. " Watching him reach for the cereal he smirked. Spiderman and Lucky Charms. Maybe later he'd have to eat that too.

It tapped into another metas time travel abilities, so first they'd need to find one of those. But still, he thought he'd put it out there.

"I'm still kind of new around here. " He admitted and took another bite of his toast. Until Peter asked about him and he looked away awkwardly. "You heard about the Kryptonite right?"

"A time travel remote?" Peter looked up from his bowl curiously. "By himself? Did it work?" That sounded interesting. What he would have given for something like that. To go back and undo all of the bad that he had seen in his life - to visit the future! The possibilities were endless. Of course, he highly doubted that a remote like that could possibly pull anyone out of the city that didn't want to stay. Not out of the city. Forward and/or backward in time? Absolutely. But nowhere that they needed to be.

Once the milk was mixed in with the cereal, Peter carried his bowl over to the table and sat down. "I did. It was a mess, wasn't it? I'm just glad I didn't get bothered by it." He did have to go out and pick up some of the messes that had been left behind. The people in the apartments weren't the only ones who had been infected by it. People had been doing the damnedest things. "Why? Did something happen?"

"Yep. Richie's kind of a super brain." He offered a nonchalant shrug and peered down at his egg and toast which was almost half gone. That was lame too, because Virgil was still hungry. "Yeah. It did actually, I got to go see my mom before.." He paused and looked up at Peter, did he really know him well enough to explain his life story? "Before she was killed in the Dakota Riots." Peter didn't look like the type to go around telling everyone everything he heard from others. Virgil was a pretty good judge of character. Normally. He looked like a good guy.

"Understatement." He rolled his eyes and put down the toast, toying with an uneven corner. Picking off a bread crumb and eating it cautiously. "The whole damn thing might have cost me one of my best friends. I'm not exactly King of Adapting to Change." he admitted with a tiny shrug and looked away frowning at his food as if it were the cause of everything bad. "I told him I loved him..and I do, but.." his brows wrinkled slightly as he tried to think of the right words. "Like a friend."

Killed in the Dakota Riots. Immediately, Peter felt nothing but sympathy for the poor kid. There was nothing worse than losing someone that you loved - he knew all about that. Harry had died recently. His Uncle Ben had passed a few years before that, something that Peter never thought he'd fully recover from. There was always a sting in his chest that he could never quite bite back when he thought of how his uncle had looked during those last moments in which he saw him. Bloody, afraid, dying. Peter looked over at Virgil quite seriously; he wanted to reach out and give his shoulder a squeeze, but he didn't know if that would be something that Virgil would be comfortable with. "I'm really sorry about your Mom. At least you got a chance to see her one last time?"

Peter took a bite from his cereal, listening attentively as Virgil explained the situation to him. Well, not so much as explained since those weren't exactly details. But it was a fine start. "Does he know that? I mean, about you loving him like a friend? Have you talked to him about it?"

"Yeah.." He trailed off and frowned at his plate for a minute as if it were the reason his mom wasn't there today. He was only two when she was shot, but that didn't mean he didn't love her any less than he would have if he were older when it happened. She was his mom. She knew what made him tick. "The remote worked because of a Bang Baby we met and named Time Zone. She could literally slip through time. Richie made a device that would help her "control" it." He stated adding the air quotes and everything, A literal time remote control. Honestly Virgil was pretty open to things like touch, he wasn't closed off or angry most of the time. He was naturally very easy to be around, honest, and genuinely the nice guy. Things that hero types were made of. That was really one of his few secrets. Otherwise he was your basic open book. He refused to tell anyone about his powers, he believed in secret identities.

"I wouldn't even know what to say." He frowned a little deeper and peered down at the toast. "I hurt him.." thing that did annoy him was Bart acted like he was the only one hurting in the situation, Virgil hadn't wanted to out and tell him. "He took off."

Bang Baby? Well, that was new. "What does she do when she slips through time? Isn't that a little dangerous?" Peter reached down and grabbed the back of his chair. Then he scooted forward, sliding in closer to the table. That was when one knew that Peter was drawn into a conversation. The simple way that he held himself. Focused. Completely focused. "Surely you all know the risks of time travel? If one thing happens that shouldn't, everything could fall apart." That wasn't a good thing. Not if the already created structure of history was damaged. Broken. Re-created. No one wanted that, now did they? Sure, there were things that Peter wouldn't have minded going back and changing, but...he knew better. The tiniest of a change would make a world of a difference in the long run.

"You didn't mean to hurt him," Peter pointed out, taking another bite from his cereal soon after. Chewing thoughtfully, he set his spoon aside and scratched at the back of his neck with a frown. "If you talk to him, you could make some of that hurt go away. At least explain yourself to him. He's your friend, isn't he? You owe him that."

"I don't know, I can't Time slip." Virgil admitted. " She said she wanted to help people like Static and Gear. They were kind of the top dog heroes in Dakota." He shifted his eyes slightly and shoved a bit of his toast in his mouth. Hoping he didn't give away to much of his identity right there, but really unless Peter was a mind reader he doubted it. "I didn't..until I got back. Richie told me. I just..didn't want to forget my mom." That wasn't the entire story, he wanted to save her life, but he knew what Peter was talking about. About the risks, so he kept quiet. Richie had told him everything afterward. Before? Virgil was to determined to see his mom again to even pretend to listen.

"No I didn't, and he ran off." Bart wasn't the only one hurting by the situation. The fact that he ran away had hurt Virgil more than he liked to admit. "I tried once, but he said I didn't hurt him. I'm kinda scared to try again. But I don't want to lose my best friend."

Time slip. Peter would have thought that one would call it time travel. He didn't really question the matter though. He was more curious about Virgil's current personal situation. "I know what it's like," he offered, somewhat quietly, "to lose someone like that. It's why I...it's mostly why I chose the career that I have now. Helping people. Using my gifts to do some good in a world filled with plenty of bad. Every time I accomplish something? I think of my Uncle Ben. What he'd have to say about it. It's a big part of what keeps me going." This time, he did reach forward. A hand went to Virgil's shoulder and Peter smiled at him sadly. "Just remember that your mother would want for you to stay strong. For her, okay?"

It seemed like his friend was being a little immature about the matter. Peter sighed slowly, then pushed his bowl of cereal back a little. "Maybe you need to give him his space for a while then. If he's not willing to hear you out, there's not really much else you can do for him right now. He'll come around eventually."

Time travel would have been the thing to call it if she could control it, but the girl was learning so it was more like a time slip. That's what Virgil ended up calling it. Without knowing how to control her powers she literally slipped through time. He gave Peter a small smile at the touch. "Me too. I mean..I do it because I want to be someone she'd be proud of. And people with abilities should use them to help others..I want to be someone she's proud of. " He stated without even thinking and then cringed. Rule number one. Secret identities were important.

He could see the look on Richie's face now. Admitting his powers to anyone beside him was like...breaking the ten super hero commandments if a thing like that existed. But this was Spiderman. He could keep a secret. "I mean I've got powers too. " A bright white light crackled against his index finger. "I can manipulate electricity and magnetism." To demonstrate on a small scale Virgil hovered his hand over his fork and it lifted effortlessly into his hand without the teen breaking a sweat. But at the mention of Bart he just frowned and toyed with the fork he'd picked up after that. "This whole thing is just so confusing.." he trailed off.
