=====================
Damien Thorn was finished with his work for the day. As it turned out, being president of the company didn't require him to sit in an office or walk around the plant for twelve hours, though he could if he wished to. It was mostly spent today going over some reports, reviewing status updates and performance, checking in on the employees. Things seemed to be going alright for the most part. Aside from some of his people having lost others during the recent quakes, which didn't seem geologically possible, yet it did happen. There were times of late that he occasionally wished he could tell them the truth of it, rather than acting as confused as the rest. Oh yes, it's because of angels, they want to break Lucifer out of jail and end the world, by the way I have powers, and also by the way, wizards and superheroes are real too, and so are all those stories about monsters your parents told you to get you to sleep. Right, that would have been received well. More likely that his leadership in the job will be questioned, along with his sanity, and have to spend time in an asylum. Not that he'd go willingly, but then that would lead to exposure of himself and everyone else. And he was very certain the general public wasn't ready for such a world shattering revelation of what he and the displaced really new. Most humans rarely reacted well to the strange and unfamiliar, if they even had ever reacted favorably at all.
So since the workplace was in good shape and could manage for the rest of this day and the next, he left the building. It was time to get some food. He could easily order room service at the hotel he stayed at with some other displaced, but he'd done that for a long while now and it was starting to become annoying with the same stuff most of the time. He wished to eat out today instead. So he found a nice diner on a corner street in town, sitting down at a booth near the window. He loosened his tie to get more comfortable and set his coat on the empty seat beside him. As he waited to be served, he took a notepad from his pocket to review. There were a couple stores listed. He'd need a few more outfits to replace the lost or damaged ones. And there was the date auction coming up, he wished to look good for that. He hoped that went smoothly for all involved. Seemed to be a substantial number of volunteers so hopefully enough money could be raised. The month and day was also listed on the paper. Taking a breath, he opened up the menu and began looking for something to choose. Hmm, steak was good. Or pork chops. Though then again, the fish and chips option seemed quite nice as an alternative.. yes. Perhaps he would choose that.
