It had been a hard week for Adam. Losing Jesse had been bad on his control but feeling Mercy suddenly vanish from the bonds they had established after she had learned he was suffering without a pack had been worse. Especially given what they were back home. But now she was back but still wasn't from the same time as him after their fun camping adventure with the river monster. He shook himself though and dressed in some of the clothes he had up at the cabin on the grounds before getting into the car and driving back. It didn't take long for him to find the library and he parked the car before he slid out. His eyes immediately fell on her and he stared.

It was his Mercy alright. Even if she wasn't his exactly. He studied her for a few moments, marveling at how she looked. He knew in the months to come for her back home it would be hard on her but she would more than be able to handle it. And he would be there to help her through it all. Or at least as much as she would let him. She was fiercely independent after all and did whatever she could to protect the ones she loved. But at least here she would be safe from the seethe.

He tugged on a pair of sunglasses as he could feel himself wanting nothing more than to go to her and bury his face in her neck and bury himself in her scent. He and his wolf were craving it and it was through sheer force of will that he resisted the temptation. He moved over though and smiled at her.

"Welcome to Lawrence Mercy," he said, pulling out an amulet he had picked up on the way here. "Put this on to keep you safe from demon possession. There's a tattoo you can get that might be better so you don't lose it as you shift."

Adam's grin was answered with a faint smile of her own. She'd been on the verge of closing her bag to save the food for after they finished hunting, but the mention of a never-ending food supply meant she could keep right on eating, which made both her and coyote happy. Absently licking some salt from a finger, Mercy pulled out her second burger and ate it much slower than the first.

"Plus the woman who just showed up - she said she gave birth," Mercy pointed out, then shook her head half in wonder. Even if there had been only one other werewolf around, dominant fights could still be an issue. "But no pack....of any kind?" Honestly, Mercy was surprised that Adam hadn't formed a pack himself, given he was an Alpha. The pack supported the Alpha nearly as much as the Alpha supported his pack, so that meant that he needed someone...and she wasn't anywhere close to being enough.

Adam grinned a bit when she kept eating. Given how easily Mercy could shift forms, she could burn energy faster than he could if she rapid changed. But his changes were far more brutal and took a lot of energy. And given how fast a wolf's metabolism was, he burned up calories fast. Second burger finished he started in on his third.

"I haven't seen her yet," he said. "I was more determined to get to you first." With her question he shook his head. "Every wolf that's been here is different. So while there's been no formal pack we've all gone on hunts together on fulls and have reached out to each other when needed."

He was silent for several minutes. "I...won't lie. It's been...difficult to say the least not having a pack and the bonds like back home. Having the others here for support has been helping but it's...it's not been enough."

Given that he was putting her above a werewolf who'd given birth, Mercy tried very hard to keep her eyes off of Adam for the moment. She used the excuse of catching a glob of tomato, onions, and ketchup with one finger that was slipping off the burger. As she absently licked it off, she gave a small nod, then looked over at him. "It's weird to know that there are different werewolves," she said. "What else is here besides werewolves and demons?"

Mercy became silent as he did, finishing off the second burger and returning to her fries. She nodded a bit at his next words. While she didn't fully understand pack magic, she did know that things couldn't have been easy for him. "I'm sorry," she told him softly, wishing there was something she could do.

Adam would always put Mercy above others. No matter when she was from, she pack to him. And pack came first. He watched her discreetly as she licked her finger clean and the strong desire to kiss her surged up and he quelled it quickly. Given when she was from, they were barely dating. "I'm not sure if he's still here but there had been a fae werewolf here. Dyson I think his name was." He glanced over at her. "Aside from werewolf and demons? There are a few different kinds of vampires, witches and wizards - we actually have some witches and/or wizards from Harry Potter last I knew." That was sure to amuse her. "And then as I said before we have more than a few fictional people here."

He made a note to warn her that they were fictional here. He had found the book by happenstance but he wanted to warn her that their lives were out there for all to see.

After a while he pulled off onto a well hidden dirt road and drove alone for about five minutes until the cabin came into view. He pulled up and parked his SUV before shutting it off and getting out. "Welcome to the hunting grounds," he said, smiling as he relaxed.
