Something good. Something bad. Or a bit of both? He’d asked the guys. Gamora said they’d follow his lead. Even calling him Star Lord, in an almost fond tone. He grinned as he declared “A bit of both.” And they left Xandar for their next adventure. Whatever that would be.
And they had. They’d been investigating a rumour of something which should bring in lot of credits, when he blinked. And, everything around him changed. And looked achingly familiar. A sight he hadn’t seen in over 26 years.
Okay, so it was a graveyard. But, he hadn’t thought he’d ever see Earth again. Wasn’t entirely sure that he wanted to, either. There was nothing left for him there. But, it seemed that he didn’t have a choice. All the same, he pressed the button on his neck for his helmet, using it to check for abnormal heat signatures, infra-red etc. He could be sensible sometimes.
But, convinced that he could see no immediate danger, he clipped his walkman to his belt, and pressing the button to minimise his helmet again, he put the headphones over his ears. Grinning, he explored his immediate vicinity. Dancing his way around the graveyard.
When she'd lifted the headphone from his ear, and yelled his name. he almost jumped out of his skin. He'd been more lost in thought than he thought. Remembering that last night on earth 26 years ago.
But, he slipped the phones around his neck, and grinned at the beautiful green-skinned woman in front of him.
