The Doctor had been having a wonderful weekend with his two favourite girls. Jenny, full of joy and innocence had been dragging him and Rose to see every show, go on every ride, meet every character. It was a completely new experience for his daughter, and he was so happy that he was able to show it to her. Show her all the fun and laughter that life was made of, and not just the pain and fighting of war.
And yet, through all the fun, he was keeping an eye on Rose. He knew the last few months had been hard for her. But, she was strong. One of the strongest humans he'd ever had the pleasure of calling his companion. He adored her, he always had. The girl who had taken his hand and run with him so many times. The one who, when he tried to save her, had done an impossible thing to save him. The one who'd crossed dimensions for him.
So, he did what he could. Tried to make her life normal, well as normal as it could be for anyone in their situation. So, when she excused herself, he watched as she ducked into a restaurant. Giving her a minute or two, before telling Jenny he'd be right back. As he entered the dining room, it didn't taken him long to spot her, holding onto her sides, trying to calm herself down.
"Rose?" he said gently, as he approached. His hand reached out, to touch her on the shoulder, but instead it hesitated inches above her skin before falling away.
