Who: The Doctor and Rose
What: Disneyland adventures and probably being thoughtful and talking and idk okay, anything could happen!
When: RIGHT NOW
Where: Disneyland obviously
Warnings: ...don't ask me!

Rose adored Jenny. She had since the first time she'd met the girl, so long ago. At the time, she'd been engaged to Jenny's father and had treated her like her own daughter in many ways. Even if the two of them looked closer in age than either of them did to the Doctor. Made even more amusing by his actual age. But this was a slightly different Jenny in an entirely different situation and in the end, that was okay. Rose was learning to adjust to situations like that, thanks to the Seal. All that really mattered was that she still cared for her, for both of them, really.

Even if, sometimes, her heart still tugged looking at him. Or most of the time.

But him... He never treated her like she was going to break, even if many times she felt like she was going to. If in a situation where he thought it might be hard for her, he simply asked. If she said she was okay, the Doctor let it go and moved on. He still dragged her along on adventures as if nothing had changed, as if that beach in Norway, and all the events leading up to it had never happened. And it was hard in some ways, and wonderful in others, and it often left her feeling more conflicted than ever. Because she still loved Guy. Even in his brooding, she knew he did care for her. But things had obviously changed since Hell and she wasn't sure how to repair them. And now this?

For the moment, she was content to simply enjoy the innocence and pure happiness of Jenny taking in her surroundings. She was excited, as any young girl would be, running around taking in the sights, getting pictures, and riding rides. And the childlike nine hundred year-old man who was, in almost every way, her father, was more than happy to be dragged around, or even sometimes doing the dragging. It was impossible to feel down around the two of them, and Rose smiled and laughed more than she had in a very long time. In some fifty odd years.

But every now and again she still felt gripped with the fear that had claimed her on first arriving back in Lawrence. So many people, so many ways to get hurt. And wouldn't this be a fantastic time for Hell to decide to laugh in her face and show her this was all a lie and actually, nothing was real and everything was still as it was, as she went on to Hell's next level? It was in one of those moments when she excused herself from some show and ducked off into a quiet section of a restaurant to breathe. Her phone was on, they'd be able to find her later if they wanted. If. As if there was a chance anyone would give up on her because this was her now. Crazy to the end, losing friends left and right. Bound to lose everyone at the rate she was going. The thought nearly made her sick and she gripped her sides to try and calm herself. This was supposed to be the happiest place on Earth, wasn't it? So why wasn't she?

The Doctor had been having a wonderful weekend with his two favourite girls. Jenny, full of joy and innocence had been dragging him and Rose to see every show, go on every ride, meet every character. It was a completely new experience for his daughter, and he was so happy that he was able to show it to her. Show her all the fun and laughter that life was made of, and not just the pain and fighting of war.

And yet, through all the fun, he was keeping an eye on Rose. He knew the last few months had been hard for her. But, she was strong. One of the strongest humans he'd ever had the pleasure of calling his companion. He adored her, he always had. The girl who had taken his hand and run with him so many times. The one who, when he tried to save her, had done an impossible thing to save him. The one who'd crossed dimensions for him.

So, he did what he could. Tried to make her life normal, well as normal as it could be for anyone in their situation. So, when she excused herself, he watched as she ducked into a restaurant. Giving her a minute or two, before telling Jenny he'd be right back. As he entered the dining room, it didn't taken him long to spot her, holding onto her sides, trying to calm herself down.

"Rose?" he said gently, as he approached. His hand reached out, to touch her on the shoulder, but instead it hesitated inches above her skin before falling away.

Where once she would have flinched at his approaching hand, now it only broke her heart. He was afraid to touch her. The man who once wouldn't have hesitated to take her hand or scoop her into a hug was now afraid to even rest a comforting hand on her shoulder. She was damaged now and everyone knew it and no wish from the Seal was going to change that. It wasn't fair and it wasn't right but it didn't matter anymore, did it?

Releasing a long, slow breath, she gave him a shuddering smile. "I'm fine," she offered, even though they both knew it couldn't be further from the truth. All she'd wanted was a few days of carefree fun. Something she didn't think was possible in Lawrence. But even here, far away from the activities of the Seal, she couldn't be free.

"You didn't have to come after me," she told him, meeting those soulful eyes that were so much older than the rest of him. "You're missing the show." She'd seen so many sides of this man. Angry, giddy, hurt. This was her sympathetic Doctor. The one who loved far too deeply. More than even he could admit. And she was grateful for it.

He knew she wasn't fine. She was far from fine. He wished more than anything there was something he could do to help her. His wonderful, strong and amazing Rose.

"Of course I did, Rose Tyler." He said, savoring her name on his lips. He smiled so tenderly at her. He hated seeing her in pain. It broke both of his hearts to see it. His best friend, more than his best friend. The woman he cared about more than any other. But, could never admit how much. He loved her, he knew that. He'd never wanted her to stop traveling with him. Wished it could last forever.

Then, with barely any hesitation, he stepped forward and took her hands in his. "You are one of the best people I have ever known." He said, gazing into her deep blue eyes. "The strongest, most resilient and amazing woman I have met in over 900 years. And one of the most important people in my life. What kind of man would I be, if I didn't?"

Rose couldn't help smiling back. She missed that smile of his every time they were separated. And they were separated far too much for her liking. When he'd arrived, she'd sworn not to get wrapped up in him again. She had too much to deal with already, she certainly didn't need that, too. Yet as he always did, he worked his way into her life. And into her heart. Git.

Then her hands were in his, fitting perfectly as they always had, and he was speaking of her as if she were some beautiful, wonderful ancient species rather than simply Rose Tyler, Vitex heiress, formerly of the Powell Estate, and now demon Hunter. It wasn't right. He couldn't fill her head with thoughts like that. They made her believe she was actually something special. And she didn't think she'd ever be special. Not even now.

Shaking her head almost defiantly, she pulled one hand free. "Don't. Don't say things like that. I'm not...that's not me. Someone else. Donna, maybe. River. Not me." Hell had done a world of hurt to her self-conscious, on top of most everything else. "I'm not the girl from Canary Wharf. Not now."
