Who: Henrik and Klaus Mikaelson
What: talking and sulking
When: at Rebekah’s wedding
Where: at the Mikaelson place
Warnings: surprisingly NO!

Henrik had been trying really hard to be happy throughout the day. He’d even succeeded for a good deal of it. Hard not to with how happy his sister had looked, even if it still saddened him a bit that she the wedding truly finalized that she wouldn’t be moving back in with them. It was odd, a situation he didnt’ quite understand. Back home she might have moved too, but only a few feet away in another house, and even then it wasn’t too likely. He always thought her husband would have moved in with them, had never really thought about it to be honest. None of his siblings had left the home, even when some of them were at marrying age, so he’d thought they’d be together forever

Though forever seemed to have changed a bit. Before he’d thought it meant however long they were alive. Now he knew it meant they would go on for a long time. Nothing could hurt his siblings and Henrik was glad for that, wanted for them to be close again like they had when they had been home. Not the distance he saw in them at times in Lawrence.

The chaos of the party, the amount of people, the music, the dancing, it all got to be too much for Henrik after a while and he ducked away from the tents and headed to his treehouse. He needed the solitude, the closeness to nature that it provided. He was still getting used to all of the changes in the new world, still wrapping his head around so much of it, but at least he had his family.

Even if he was afraid they would all leave him.

He sat down on the ground by the treehouse, watching the horses grazing in the other field and if he concentrated hard enough he could block out everything else, so that’s what he tried to do.

Henrik did not like the idea of there being three Tatias or the possibility of all of them being around at once. He could not see how any good would come of that. If they were anything like the first he did not think it would end well for anyone. She had seemed to care mostly for her own happiness, dragging both his brothers around, trying to tarnish their bond and ruining their lives. Perhaps she had loved them both, he did not know, but he did not like her version of love.

He stilled at Klaus’ answer to if his parents came, the question about what he would need to do. He wasn’t completely naive. He knew people were frightened of his family, he’d glimpsed conversations here and there of what they had done, of what they had become. He was still reconciling it all with how he had known them, how he still knew them, but one thing that had remained the same was the love they had for him.

It seemed that their parents’ love had not stayed the same. It had turned into hate. It was easy for Henrik to see that for Mikael with how he had treated all of them. But with Esther it was harder. He still loved his mother. But if she was going to try and hurt his siblings…

“You should kill them. If they come here and want to hurt us. You should not let them stand the chance. I am going to learn spells to help incapacitate them.”

Klaus hadn't expected that. Not from Henrik. Being told killing them was fine. If they came here to hurt, which would be the intent if they ever did. He wasn't sure how to react to it either. Was he making his brother as cold as the rest of them. As twisted. Henrik was the one of them with a chance, much as Klaus wanted to turn him when he was older. Keep him with them.

He didn't want to return home, or to New Orleans. He had all he wanted or needed here.

"I know you must hear things, about me, about what I've done in the past. But I promise you one thing Henrik, you will never have that from me. I'm not Mikael. I'm not like him. I just suppose that sometimes I need to deal with things a certain way. And sometimes its quite...memorable."

He would destroy his mother. And Mikael. He'd done it before, he would do it again, and once again he'd enjoy it. Better that they not come here. Better that Henrik never see the truth of that side of him.

"Now come on, can you face more dancing or should we go and get ice cream to eat out here?"

“Most people are polite and do not speak of what you all have done to me. But I have picked up on some things.” In the filters he was able to see for a short while before he assumed he was locked out of conversations. And simply from the fear he sensed from some of the others when talking to his family. Henrik didn’t always like it but he wanted to understand it.

He knew his siblings had lived a long time and he knew they had been on the run from their father. Mikael hadn’t been a kind man as a human, there was little doubt in Henrik’s mind that he was probably even crueler as a vampire. He could only imagine what it must have been like to run from him for so long.

“I do not think you’re like him, Nik. But yes, I would like to go for ice cream. I am very tired of dancing. And wearing this tux.” He really hated the thing.
