Re: AFTERMATH-Lydia/Mitchell
Lydia stood, leaving Lauren behind her. There wasn't much else she could say to ease the girl's hurt. Her ability to heal was on her now. On her own willingness to let go of her fears and trust the people who truly had never abandoned her. While there weren't many, it was a start.
Her eyes lifted, though, and caught someone else's. And her face lit up. He'd been watching, waiting. Keeping a respectful distance and god, how she loved him for that. For knowing what needed to happen, what she needed to do.
And it was that knowledge that had her flying the last few feet and all but throwing herself at her boyfriend. Her handsome, brave, clever, ass of a boyfriend who could possibly be the world's oldest frat boy but she didn't even care. He loved her, completely unconditionally, and it was the only thing she'd ever asked of anyone. There were few people she truly let see her heart. Jane and Robin and of course, him.
Somehow, John Mitchell had implanted himself firmly in her heart, and she'd be impossible to shake for his efforts.
She needed to get to the Roadhouse, to make sure her sister was okay. She needed to contact Alex and see how she was doing. She longed to find Lily, to hold her friend and comfort her. But for a brief moment, she simply wanted to bury herself in Mitchell's arms and hide from the world. Everything else could wait. For the first time in a long time, Lydia was focusing on her.
