AFTERMATH - Peter & Livvy
Peter opened his eyes just in time to see the relief all over Livvy's face, and then she was hugging him. Her embrace, her scent, her warmth, it was a comfort he was still not used to. He caught her in his arms, tried to say something but wasn't able to so much as whisper, choking on the tangle of hurt and grief and relief. She was okay. He was okay, and his mum was okay.
Not everyone was.
Maybe if he hugged her tighter, she could hold him together. She could sooth the the hurt, push it back. Maybe then he could breath. He couldn't stop shaking, couldn't stop the sudden tears, so he just held her tighter and buried his face in her shoulder and let out a low, keening cry. He wanted to disappear, wanted everything to just stop. It was done, Lucifer was gone, they'd actually stopped the Apocalypse. This moment should have been one of joy and celebration. He hadn't dared hope for this, but it was actually over.... but not for everyone, and that demolished any sense of triumph. Some of their number were dead on the field, some of them were trapped with the monster they'd all been striving for so long to see put away in his cage. The Apocalypse was over, but this was no victory.
