The battle had been long and hard but James was smiling. Not only had they won but the displaced were still here. Yes, there had been loss of life. He had seen some people other than Lucifer fall into the cage. Either they would find a way to get them out without rereleasing the Devil, or they were trapped there. Regardless, James intended to live his life here to the fullest.
Sliding the shield onto his back, he cradled his left arm, the pain finally catching up to him now that the adraneline of the battle was wearing off. He felt like he could sleep for a week but he was eager to get to the Roadhouse and find his mother. Sending a text that he was alive meant nothing. He had no doubt she'd want to see him with her own two eyes.
Unzipping his jacket a little, he carefully slid his arm halfway in, using the zipper to hold it up as a makeshift sling. He'd need to get it set and looked at soon but for now he slowly began making his way to where the Roadhouse was.
