He didn't speak, just sat there and waited her out. He could, in the right circumstances, have a lot of patience for certain things. "Yeah," he nodded in response to her question. "you did." it was really all he could say.
But then that question. Two words, but so loaded, and it hit like a brick. What happened? What didn't happen? How was he supposed to tell her that her boyfriend had gone off the deep end and nearly killed one of her best friends? That people had been plotting to kill his brother. Again. That...
"A lot." was all he could manage at first, running a hand over his face, pausing for a moment so his hand covered his eyes as he tried to figure out exactly where to begin. Finally, a sigh and his hand dropped to his lap again. "I.. that girl, the one with werewolf father, she found you." He didn't know her name, but it wasn't all that important really. "She told us. Told everyone, really, and Nik..." Oh, how Kol didn't want to go into this. Not here, not now, not like this. But he had to and he knew he had to.
"He lost it. We tried, Bekah, Elijah and I, we tried to keep it reigned in, keep him in check, but he was just... going off at everything. Making threats with that girl's father, even threatened her and it just...spiraled." That, at least, was a start. He couldn't give it to her all at once. He just couldn't.
