He kind of enjoyed the quiet times, when nothing was going wrong. But he just knew in his gut that today wasn't going to be that kind of day. He had been in his flat with Edward as she was continuing to teach him about the program she had developed. He had never thought she would be this patient with him, but he still wasn't getting it and he was honestly surprised she hadn't given up on him yet. He was grateful for that.
The sudden shaking and rumbling startled him. "What the bloody hell?" he muttered as things began to fall. Something bad had happened. His head was screaming "bomb" and he hoped it was wrong, but he knew it wasn't. He pulled Edward over and shielded her with his own body as debris began to fall from the ceiling. He had his arm up over his head to provide some sort of protection, but he had not anticipated just how much debris was falling from the ceiling. He could feel his arm break and the pain was intense. He'd never had a broken bone before, but he knew, without a doubt, that that was what had happened. Thankfully it was not his dominant arm.
After a moment the shaking stopped but he could quickly smell smoke. Bomb meant fire, fire meant it was dangerous to be there, especially so high up. He pulled away from Edward, using his good arm to check her over. They needed to get out of there, and fast. He hoped that firefighters and supers would be on the scene shortly, but for right now he had to not panic and make sure Edward didn't panic. "Are you injured?" he asked, looking around. She seemed fine, but until she answered he would worry. He cradled his injured arm and waited for an answer.
