And it was a good thing for Katherine's sake that she omitted that detail. It wasn't one that Anna would take well. At all. Because regardless of where things actually stood between her and Jeremy, she loved him. She had a feeling that would never change, pathetic as it might be. And she was aware that it was pathetic.
"It's fine," Anna told her, nodding as she made a mental list. It had been a long time since she'd had to have human food around wherever she was living. Longer still since she'd actually bought any. She'd pick up a couple of other things while she was out. Her mother had always taught her the importance of being a good hostess. Even if she didn't really trust the guest at hand.
Friends close, enemies closer, or something like that. At least that's what she was telling herself. She headed for the door. "All right. You can have the bed if you want." It wasn't like Anna slept much anyway. She just didn't need to. Vampires needed a lot less sleep than humans.
