Katherine & Annabelle
Talking and stuff. Idek rn!
Backdated, Friday evening, July 19, 2013; Anna's apartment
TBD/In Progress

She waited for Anna to answer the door.

After her talk with Damon, going back to his place wasn't much of an option and though she knew she could always go to Gaia's, she wasn't sure she was ready for it and Anna had made the offer to her to stay with her. So, it seemed to be the best option for now until she figured out more permanent arrangements. She wasn't sure how the younger woman would take to the news of her being human. She had every right to take that moment to seek revenge on her, and there was a part of Katherine that was worried that thought may become a reality, but she supposed it was a risk she was willing to take.

She pulled out the piece of paper with the address she'd written down and glanced up at the building. This was the right place, but was she really ready for this? Katherine wasn't sure, but she decided to get it over with anyway. At least if she decided to kick her out, she would still have time to find somewhere else to go.

She walked down the hall, her heart pounding in her chest with every step she took that brought her closer to the door. She was far too aware of that feeling, the nervousness, the sound of her heartbeat pounding in her ears. She finally stopped and rasied a hand to knock and waited for Anna to answer the door.

Truthfully, Annabelle had no idea what on earth had possessed her to invite Katherine Pierce to her apartment to stay until she found a more permanent place. She hadn't seen the woman since the 1980's. And Katherine was part of the reason her mother had been trapped in the tomb in Mystic Falls, and she hadn't even bothered to stick around or to try and help and get Pearl out.

But she was lonely. More lonely than she wanted to admit. It was a feeling she should have been long used to by then, but somehow that knowledge didn't help soothe her. She missed her mother. She missed Jeremy. But her mom was dead, and Jeremy was with Vicki and apparently didn't want to have anything to do with her. She thought they'd had something special, but apparently it had been one-sided. As much as that hurt, she wasn't going to force herself on him. She was better than that.

Then she heard the sound of footsteps heading toward the door. And she heard a heartbeat as she approached it, her eyebrows furrowing. Which didn't make sense, considering the only one who was supposed to be coming over was Katherine, and she was a vampire. Unless Jeremy had suddenly decided to come and see her. Hope surged in her heart, and she quickly opened the door, blinking a few times at the person who stood in front of her.

"Elena?" Her eyebrows furrowed. "What are you doing here?"

Katherine scoffed a little, a slight smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth, "Wrong twin." she said, shaking her head. "It's a long story and we've got all night, right?"

She knew Anna must have had a thousand questions running through her mind in that moment as she took this piece of information in. Katherine couldn't imagine where to even begin, so she decided to let Anna direct their conversation for now.

"Can I come in?" Not that she needed the invitation, but it was the polite thing to do, wasn't it?

Katherine was human?

Human.

How the hell was that even possible? Anna had never heard of a vampire suddenly turning human again, even through magic.

She stared at Katherine with wide eyes for a long moment, then stepped aside to let her in. "Make yourself comfortable." She really wasn't sure what else to say right then, because frankly she was in shock. She closed the door behind her when Katherine stepped inside.

Katherine nodded and stepped inside, glancing around the apartment. "It's crazy, right?" she said, turning to face Anna again. "I mean, it's supposed to be forever. No turning back." she shook her head and moved to sit on the couch.

"What all do you know about the future back home?" she asked, tilting her head to look up at the younger girl again. "Has anybody told you about Silas? The cure? Any of that?"

Anna watched as her maker looked around her apartment. It was pretty basic. She hadn't really bothered to decorate it because she wasn't sure how long she'd be staying. And it wasn't like she needed much. Granted, she'd compelled the apartment manager into letting her rent the place. She had a little money on her, but she supposed she should start looking for a job soon.

"Nothing. I was dead," Anna said, shrugging. She didn't even know if Katherine knew that, really. "Jonathan Gilbert." She moved to sit down, as well, watching Katherine closely. "I've heard about Silas, but no one ever seemed to be sure if he was real or just a scary story." She paused at the mention of the cure. "The cure?" It took her a moment, then it clicked. The cure for immortality. Her eyes widened slightly. "It's real. That's how you're human again."

"The Gilberts really have a knack for ruining lives, don't they?" she quipped almost immediately, but shook her head, "Guess I do too, though." She could admit it, she could handle it, she could deal with everything she'd done. That was hat made her and Elena different as vampires. Elena couldn't handle the heightened grief and depression that came along with the excessive pleasure and excitement. It was too much and she had to turn it off to et away from the bad. Katherine supposed she was naturally more apt to not feeling for others enough, where with Elena...that as all she seemed to do.

"He's real." she said, nodding, "And so is the cure. There was a whole fight to it, who could get there first..." She sighed, leaning back further into the couch. "Rebekah wanted it for herself, thinks living a human life will make her a better person somehow. Almost everyone else wanted it for Elena. Me? It was my bargaining chip with Klaus. The cure, which he could do whatever he wanted with--and we all know he'd use it on Elena for her Doppleganger blood--for my freedom. The plan was perfec and Elijah was helping me, but..." she trailed off, one hand up in the air. "plans changed."

She could deny neither of Katherine's claims, be it about the Gilberts, or about Katherine herself. For more reasons than one, so she remained silent for the time being, simply arching an eyebrow and waiting for Katherine to explain.

She leaned back into the sofa as she listened, wondering what exactly had gone wrong, and how the plans had changed. "But you got to the cure," she guessed, cocking her head. But why had she taken it? She'd never in a million years would have thought Katherine Pierce of all people would want to ever be human again.

"I did," she nodded and launched into the too-long explanation of events that led up to the fight she'd had with Elena just before arriving in Lawrence again. "...and she shoved the vial in my mouth and forced my jaw shut. Then I woke up here again. Human."

So there it was. Anna knew everything she needed to know about the events revolving around the cure. Why was she being this honest with her? Katherine wasn't sure. But the girl had extended her hand to her when, really, she had no reason to, so honesty was at least something she could afford her, right? And wasn't that what she'd done in her time here before? Those last several months, hadn't she worked her ass off to do the right thing? So continuing that seemed like the best way to go. And Anna did ask. And to be entirely honest? Letting it all out like that? It felt good.

Anna sat back against the couch, trying to process everything that Katherine had just told her. "Wow," she muttered, shaking her head.

She studied her for a moment, wondering if there was more that the other woman had left out. She'd always been a world-class liar, and despite how long Anna had been around, and the fact that Katherine was her maker, even she couldn't always tell when the other woman was being deceitful. For now she'd take her at her word. "Well, you should be safe here. There's only one person besides you who knows where I live." And she was pretty sure he wouldn't be coming by anytime soon. Or ever.

"And I've flown pretty far under the radar around this place, so I doubt Klaus or anyone will suspect you were staying here." She paused. "But I don't have any food in the apartment. I'll go out and get some so you can get some rest. Any food preferences?" Anna rose to her feet, arching her eyebrows.

Katherine had conveniently left out one, tiny detail with her explanation to Anna. Telling her she killed the boy the younger vampire--or was she really younger anymore? Was she supposed to run on her human age now? Katherine didn't know anymore--had been involved with just seemed like a terrible plan. Especially when she was going out of her way to be so hospitable to her. She could only hope no one else let that little detail slip to her.

She nodded at Anna's comment that she would be safe. "That's good." she nodded again. "I really appreciate it, Anna. You didn't have to do this for me." And Katherine was fully aware of that. She wondered if Anna would take any lessons from her, make sure to cash in on the fact that Katherine owed her for this.

"Even better," she admitted with the comment about Klaus. That was more worrisome than it had ever been with her being human now. Now she would be nothing but a commodity to him. "Food. Right. Uh, just some stuff that's quick to fix for now, I guess. Waffles, tv dinners, stuff like that." Food was the last thing on her mind right now, but she supposed she should probably eat eventually.

And it was a good thing for Katherine's sake that she omitted that detail. It wasn't one that Anna would take well. At all. Because regardless of where things actually stood between her and Jeremy, she loved him. She had a feeling that would never change, pathetic as it might be. And she was aware that it was pathetic.

"It's fine," Anna told her, nodding as she made a mental list. It had been a long time since she'd had to have human food around wherever she was living. Longer still since she'd actually bought any. She'd pick up a couple of other things while she was out. Her mother had always taught her the importance of being a good hostess. Even if she didn't really trust the guest at hand.

Friends close, enemies closer, or something like that. At least that's what she was telling herself. She headed for the door. "All right. You can have the bed if you want." It wasn't like Anna slept much anyway. She just didn't need to. Vampires needed a lot less sleep than humans.
