"Even if they were a few years in the past, I am positive that with everyone from around our time period coming through, we could work together to catch them up to date." It was certainly strange to William that "technology" here also included amulets and other protective measures against demons of all things. He wasn't entirely sure he would ever fully grasp that particular concept. "I agree. When Gigi was discussing options with me, the possibility of trying something different was still on the table until the very end. Then it became abundantly clear that staying with what is familiar could be the best possible way to ensure our relative safety."
His mother would have his head from beyond the grave if he forgot his manners in Lizzie's company. From a young age, William was taught to hold doors for young and older ladies, and between his sister and Aunt Catherine, he would not forget to pull out a chair for a lady. Despite the fact that when he was uncomfortable, he was a bit standoffish and rude, no one could doubt that he was raised well. "I am sure they would have oversized glasses and hats on. If they are looking to pat themselves on the back, they will be making their rounds soon." Because he knew just how subtle his younger sister was. It would be entertaining to witness her spotting them watching her and Lydia if they chose to go that route. For now, however, William just reclined slightly in his seat, licking a bit of melting ice cream from the side of his cone before it could coat his hands.
"The first week, I must confess that I barely came up for air, so to speak." It was easy to be comforted by the familiar scent of books and dust; a scent that reminded him of his father and office very well. "I have borrowed a few books of Neruda and Tolstoy, but I hope to find a secondhand bookstore soon." As of right now, William's bedroom in the apartment he currently occupied was impeccably made up, but books were strewn over every available surface. He would need a bookshelf or two soon. "I write in the margins," he offered, as he glanced up at Lizzie. "Somehow I doubt the library staff would take kindly to me doing so to their copies."
