It wasn't a topic of conversation that William particularly wanted to pursue, but the fact of the matter was that he was immensely grateful to the Bennet sisters for befriending his younger sister and helping her through the inevitable rough time she would have had after returning to normal. It made William a bit sick with himself that he wasn't there when Gigi needed him. Despite her reassurances that there was nothing that he could have done and that she was not angry with him, he was upset with himself. Part of being on their own for so long had made William a bit paranoid that something small could truly break them apart. "I, we are both very grateful for that." His tone was much more intense than he believed it to be, his voice almost gravelly, and he cleared his throat, reminding himself to stop staring at her so intently.
"No, there is a problem there," he said thoughtfully. "There's also the chance of retaking the finals, as an opt out of the course so you can obtain the credits quickly." It was what he had to do himself when he had transferred to Stanford from Harvard, and it hadn't gone too horribly. "It will show that you are highly familiar with the material." If she truly forgot nothing, it wouldn't take long at all.
As Lizzie ordered, William's thoughts drifted to another day, another offer of spending time together. It had been just two weeks ago, but it felt so much longer. He still wondered what Lizzie's response would have been, but he didn't ask. If she was unaware of what was to befall Lydia, he would wait until she was informed or gave an indication that she already knew. He submitted his order for raspberry chocolate chip on a cone as he handed over the money for their cones and glanced down at Lizzie. "Would you care to sit?"
