The look she gave him was only more amusing. Only caused him to grin a little more as he waited for her to get in the car. At least she still trusted him that much even in another city. He was grateful he didn't have to force her in, she had a pretty mean left hook when she wanted. He really didn't want to be victim to that if he could help it. "That's because it doesn't exist. This is going to sound insane, that's why." He put the car in drive and only then did he start to explain things. He got on the freeway, there was no way she could get out or demand to stop and be let out like she had before when they first met.
"It looks like our world but this isn't. This is another world parallel to ours." God that sounded like a horrible science fiction movie. Bones was probably going to point that out too. "We're here because we've been chosen to fight in a war." He glanced over at her worriedly. That was the bit that worried him the most. Bones was going to end up fighting in this place whether he wanted her to or not. He'd seen his share of combat over the years and so had she, but he would always worry. That was just what partners did when faced with impossible odds.
"Magic is real here Bones. Just as real as science." He went on, he was purposely going to take the long route on the freeway. Maybe even stop for food somewhere. Either way it was going to be pretty obvious that he knew his way around. He'd been there now going on three years. Nearly four. He knew the ins and outs of Kansas. He knew what Bones liked. He was going to take her to a diner he knew. They could get coffee and he'd get pie and coffee and talk more. It was going to be a long night of that. There really was no getting around it.
He explained that it was a battle between heaven and hell, gave her the basic run down of what had caused it and why. They drove along for quite a while, Booth had his shades back on his face. "Here it's more than a myth."
