The fact that he had left the door open was incredibly telling. While he really didn't like all the things running through his head, he well knew he couldn't just start shutting Belle out now, after everything. Oh it was more than difficult, of course, to not just close himself off and pretend things were fine. Things weren't necessarily bad either, the events of the past several hours just had a lot of emotional baggage attached to them. Last night's revelation from Emma wasn't bad, but it would have taken him a little while to properly get his head around the fact that Henry was his grandson. But seeing Bae having posted on the boards that morning? That just made everything that much more complicated.
Though he wouldn't be Rumplestiltskin if things weren't complicated at all. There would always be some twist to things in his life no matter how much he tried to keep them simple. But things hadn't been simple for him in centuries, and he was fairly certain they would never be again simply because he was the Dark One.
When he heard Belle's voice, it pulled him out of the monotonous zone he had gone into while spinning. When she grasped his hand, he was fully brought out of it and he stopped spinning, looking at their hands for a moment as he tried to collect himself a bit.
"Last evening, Emma came here, needing to tell me something." He looked at Belle. "It seems that Emma knew Baelfire. He is Henry's father. Which makes Henry my grandson." That in and of itself was not bad news. It was actually good news. He knew that as of ten years prior, Bae was alive and well. It was more than he'd had to go on in centuries. "But that is not all. This morning when I was reading those online boards, I saw a post made by a young man. It was Bae. There was no mistaking it. He is here." And then worry crept into his eyes quickly followed by regret. Oh he did regret not having gone with Bae and breaking the deal he had made. And he knew he was going to face those consequences once Bae had the strength to talk to him more in depth.
